    FIRM OVERVIEW

    Newman Garrison + Partners (NG+P) is an innovative award-winning, full-service architecture and interior design studio based in Costa Mesa, CA. NG+P's team of highly trained design professionals specialize in creating innovative, yet timeless, architectural design for mid- and high-rise multifamily towers; mixed-use, urban infill and transit-oriented developments; hospitality; resort communities; single family; and work-force and student housing.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Accounting Manager is a key business role for maintaining a successful, growing, and profitable office. The Accounting Manager will be the financial liaison between the Client and Corporate Officials. It requires a savvy business acumen, comfort with financial information including budgets, costs, and revenue, and able to translate financial terms to nonfinancial personnel. The candidate is expected to develop a strong relationship with Partners, Project Managers, and Dept. Leads to help reach financial goals on projects.

    The qualified candidate should be professional and polished while representing an expanding architecture/design studio. Our ideal candidate would oversee collections for key clients and maintain relationships with business liaisons at those client offices. The chosen candidate should be able to deal with a variety of personalities, and comfortable in speaking with groups of people at all levels.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelors' degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, plus 5 plus years accounting experience.

    • Excellent communication, time management, and employee relationship skills.

    • Full GAAP knowledge, general ledger, trial balance, budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cash flow.

    • Strong analytical skills. Ability to develop and analyze budget variances.

    • Extensive Experience with QuickBooks PREMIER accounting system.

    • Must be of unquestionable integrity, possess a drive to succeed and accomplish team challenges in a dynamic, hardworking, fast growing business environment.

     

    THE POSITION INVOLVES THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Must be familiar with project cost accounting, expense review and approvals. Maintain Billing Logs for project to show gain/loss on the projects. Prepare cost reports for project managers and Partners.

    • Evaluate, develop and implement project accounting tools & procedures that enhance and improve overall results. Assist with implementation of new corporate directives related to accounting and system

    processes.

    • Experience with creating and maintaining of contract documents /owners/ subcontractors/ purchase orders, mechanic's lien laws, keeping insurance requirements: GL, WC, etc. compliant with client requirements.

    • Lead monthly meetings with Partners to discuss financials of each studio, report on project performance monthly to Chairman. Maintain General Ledger & Trial Balances with end of month reporting and reconciliation.

    • Complete month-end closing to include:

    ● Conduct accurate contract documentation, administration and maintenance including fee and budget entry. Generate and analyze Unbilled Report for Billing.

    ● Bank & Credit card statements and reconciliations, miscellaneous journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation. Project Cost Analysis, Review and approve billable time. Responsible for all client project billing in a timely manner with accurate descriptions of services.

    ● Keep Accurate Vendor Records in QuickBooks, (Addresses, Contacts and Phone Info)

    • Oversee and manage Human Resources functions such as onboarding, benefits management, payroll and other tasks as needed.

    • Additional responsibilities include IT liaison, maintain supplies/equipment inventory and other as required.
