    Job Description

    Noticias Telemundo 40 / KTLM is seeking a versatile, engaging, and newsroom-savvy News Anchor to join our team. This position is responsible for the on-air delivery of daily newscasts and for contributing high-quality journalism across all platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who excels in breaking news, thrives in a collaborative environment, and understands the demands of a modern, multi-platform newsroom.

    Responsibilities

    Anchor daily newscasts for both linear television and streaming platforms, delivering clear, accurate, and engaging content.

    • Write, research, and produce stories or segments as needed, ensuring high editorial standards and compelling storytelling.
    • Collaborate closely with producers, reporters, and newsroom leadership to shape daily newscasts and special coverage.
    • Present breaking news both during scheduled newscasts and outside regular airtimes, maintaining professionalism and urgency.
    • Report from the field, including live shots, interviews, and package stories when assigned.
    • Generate story ideas, develop contacts, and contribute meaningfully during editorial meetings.
    • Write and edit scripts for TV, digital, and social platforms with accuracy and strong journalistic standards.
    • Engage actively on digital platforms, helping grow audience reach and community engagement.
    • Represent the station at community events, station functions, and public appearances, as requested.
    • Uphold NBCUniversal’s values, news standards, and commitment to ethical journalism.

    • BA or BS in Journalism, Communications, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of television anchor/reporter experience.
    • Strong Spanish-language skills (written and verbal) required; bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
    • Outstanding on-air presence, writing ability, and editorial judgment.
    • Ability to ad-lib confidently and handle breaking news under pressure.
    • Strong live reporting skills and experience with fast-paced deadlines.
    • Must be a team player who works effectively with newsroom colleagues across departments.
    • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
    • Ability to participate in public events, community functions, and station initiatives as assigned.
    • Must be willing to work in the McAllen metro area.
    • Must have an active driver’s license and good driving record
    • Must be 18 years or older and have unrestricted work authorization in the U.S.

    Desired Characteristics

    • Degree in Journalism, Communications, or Political Science preferred.
    • Strong general assignment reporting skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to present scripts with clarity, energy, and authenticity.
    • Proven record of generating story ideas, meeting deadlines, and building sources.
    • Experience contributing to newsroom leadership or mentoring colleagues.
    • Ability to collaborate and maintain positive working relationships across the newsroom
