ANALYST, RESEARCH AND COMMUNICATIONS | SILVER SPRING, MD
Nexight Group is seeking a recent graduate or early career professional with experience in research, synthesis, and writing projects and demonstrated skill in quickly becoming conversant in diverse technical subject matter.
This role will primarily support federal clients working in the field of critical infrastructure. Working both independently and in close collaboration with teammates and clients, the position requires excellent discretion and the ability to quickly synthesize information from an array of sources to deliver clear and compelling writing products.
Successful applicants will have experience conducting open-source research, offering critical analysis, synthesizing information to draw meaningful conclusions, and writing original and engaging content—from in-depth studies to short talking points—that accurately communicates complex information.
Nexight Group is a small consulting firm that works on diverse subject areas for a variety of clients in the public and private sectors. Being adaptable, curious, and a critical thinker will be just as important as technical writing skills and subject matter expertise.
Applicants should have the necessary skills to perform the following job responsibilities:
· Rapidly build understanding of specialized, highly technical information in new subject areas and translate that understanding into narrative and analysis for both specialists and general audiences.
· Research and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, analyze trends, develop accurate and insightful syntheses of key issues, and perform other related tasks that require strong critical thinking skills.
· Produce succinct, accurate, and well-documented analyses that synthesize complex information for a variety of audiences, from executives to policymakers to the general public. Use these analyses to support the development of communication materials for inclusion in documents such as reports, roadmaps, presentations, fact sheets, and instructional materials.
· Participate in and support face-to-face meetings with middle- or higher-level managers and executives.
· Exercise sound project management techniques, including communicating deadlines and areas of risk, organizing personal workload, and excellent time-management.
· Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Work location will be in Silver Spring, MD, but some remote work and flexible scheduling is permitted.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
· Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant experience or 5 years of professional experience
· Demonstrated ability to quickly review, comprehend, analyze, and synthesize large amounts of qualitative or quantitative data and communicate to various audiences
· Ability to comfortably and professionally communicate with colleagues and external partners at all levels of seniority
· Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, that reflect strong critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis capabilities
· Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
· Strict attention to detail with minimal oversight required
· An entrepreneurial spirit that realizes value in all tasks, large and small, likes to learn by doing, and desires continuous improvement and innovation
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Must be able to attain a Public Trust security clearance
Preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in a writing-heavy discipline with more than 1 year of relevant experience
· Previous professional experience in a policy analysis and/or project management consulting or a client-facing role
· Knowledge and previous use of style guides
· Experience facilitating diverse groups to come to consensus or collaborate on a way forward
Anticipated salary range is $60,000-$65,000 and subject to negotiation.
