JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT, BILLING SUPPORT | SILVER SPRING, MD
Nexight Group is seeking a professional with experience in accounting and billing. This is a new position, supporting the Director of Accounting, that will be instrumental in producing and providing accurate, efficient billing and customer services to Nexight clients.
Successful applicants will have demonstrated experience gathering and analyzing customer data, including entering and maintaining customer information in enterprise resource planning (EPR) software, generating and processing customer invoices, and support and resolution of identified billing errors. This work may require research of customer contracts, and/or interaction with internal project teams. The ideal candidate will also assist with general day-to-day accounting activities, working both independently and in close collaboration with others.
Nexight Group is a small consulting firm that works on diverse subject areas for a variety of clients in the public and private sectors. Being adaptable, curious, and a critical thinker will be just as important as accounting and billing support skills.
SKILLS
Applicants should have the necessary skills to perform the following job responsibilities:
· Process and reconcile billing.
· Update and maintain customer accounts.
· Perform reconciliation operations.
· Continuous evaluation of current policies and recommendations for process improvements
· Strong attention to detail with a dedication to accuracy
· Additional duties as required in support of operations.
Work location will be in Silver Spring, MD, but some remote work and flexible scheduling is permitted.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
· Associate degree in business or accounting plus 1 year of professional experience OR 2-4 years of professional accounting experience
· Ability to comfortably and professionally communicate with colleagues and external partners at all levels of seniority
· Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
· Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively
· Attention to detail with minimal oversight required
· An entrepreneurial spirit that realizes value in all tasks, large and small, likes to learn by doing, and desires continuous improvement and innovation
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word and Excel
Preferred
· Prior experience using Deltek Costpoint ERP software.

Anticipated salary range
50k-60k
