    Based in the heart of Los Angeles, Nexplay is an IT consulting leader specializing in remote help desk support, onsite IT support, and all facets of information technology buildouts. We enable premium luxury hotel brands to elevate guest experiences and operations through properly leveraged technology. Founded in 2008 by industry veterans from Four Seasons and an executive team from Yahoo, ebay, and LegalZoom, we are experiencing rapid growth and looking to augment our team.

    We are currently looking to hire a sharp Systems Engineer to develop data and network security initiatives internally and for our clients. If you have strong communication, organizational skills, acute attention to detail, and effective multi-tasking abilities, we'd love the opportunity to tell you more.

    This is not a remote position and will require periodic site visits to clients in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Santa Barbara.

    DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Reports directly to the IT Director and CEO.

    Security:

    • Perform networking infrastructure assessments of client environments and report findings, risks, and recommendations
    • Perform gap analyses against networking best practices and standards
    • Design, document and implement networking controls to address risks and compliance requirements within client environments
    • Customize Networking Security Policy templates
    • Create IT and Network Security Standard Operating Procedures
    • Customize and deliver network security awareness trainings for clients
    • Consult with IT Teams to communicate network security risks and analysis
    • Perform port scans, internal and external vulnerability scans, and web application scans and report findings, risks, and recommendations

    Network Administration:

    • Perform networking infrastructure configuration for installation/deployment
    • Perform remediations identified by gap analysis, to harden client networks
    • Design, document and implement new network installations or network upgrades
    • Customize Network Security Settings
    • Perform monthly maintenance tasks for managed services clients (inventory, patching, alert tuning, reporting)
    • Tune security tools used for monitoring client environments
    • Triage network alerts for managed services clients, determining and focusing on the highest alerts first
    • Participate in network incident investigations and responding to potential outages
    • Create custom networking scripts to assess technical environments
    • Maintain a disaster recovery and contingency plan.
    • Maintains best practices for the policies and procedures for each user group.
    • Evaluates and acquires new and adaptive, flexible, and cost-effective technology solutions within the overall information infrastructure.
    • May assist to develop capital planning and expense management.

    Internal Security:

    • Audit backup methods, encryption key management, secure email configurations and management, privileged access, and authentication, change management, firewall rules, and more
    • Manage remediation of risk and vulnerabilities found during reviews, assessments, and audits
    • Perform research for ongoing security initiatives and implement security solutions
    • Other internal security analysis and engineering, as needed

    EXPECTATIONS:

    Operational:

    • Consult on Nexplay's Documentation structure with one of the primary goals being to eliminate the need for escalations due to missing, incomplete, or inaccessible documentation.

    • Advise on adding infrastructure checks in RMM and providing resolutions to said checks.

    • Develop a plan for implementing self-healing automation, etc.

    Functional:

    • Perform & automate switch & firewall config backups

    • Refresh all infrastructure diagrams as necessary

    • Solve general escalations both remote and on-site

    • Audit each client and provide analysis on existing infrastructure health with respect to performance, robustness, and scalability

    • Refine & document the process for reproducibility

    Strategic:

    • Implement a robust preventative maintenance/monitoring strategy.

    • Enhance existing site standardization strategy.

    • Enhance existing patching/event monitoring process strategy.

    • Standardize infrastructure packages for basic, standard, and deluxe configurations to provide modular setup offerings for clients.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience : Minimum 5 years experience in a client facing technology support role. Fortune 1000 experience a big plus.

    Education : Computer technology degree preferred. MCP, Network+, Security+ or equivalent certifications are required. MCSE, CNE and other technical certifications are pluses.

    General Skills : Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest's service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. Willing to work an occasional night or weekend as needed for a major incident or critical customer deadline. Must be a US Citizen for this position

    Technical Skills :

    • Cisco Certified Network Associate – Routing & Switching (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
    • A big plus if also have CISSP, CISA, or similar certification(s)
    • Excellent proactive communication skills; strong attention to detail
    • Self-starter who offers suggestions and thrives on building new processes
    • Skilled at research and finding solutions to problems
    • Incredible customer service skills and great with people
    • Experience with Cisco, Rucks, and HP Networking
    • Wi-Fi Experience: Ruckus provisioning
    • Firewall experience: FortiGate, SonicWALL, Cisco
    • Expertise with Server hardware builds, Windows Server setup and administration including Hyper-V and VM Ware
    • Experience with Microsoft 365 (Intune, Azure AD), Active Directory, RMM tools preferred
    • Experience with scripting in PowerShell and/or Python preferred

    Language : Required to speak, read, and write English.

    Physical Requirements : Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 35 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
