    Role Overview

    The Next Generation Associate Minister serves to support and strengthen ministry efforts for students through young adults. Working under the direction of the Next Generation & Teaching Pastor, this role helps cultivate environments where students and young adults can grow in their relationship with Jesus, build meaningful community, and take next steps in discipleship and leadership within The Cross Church’s high-performance culture and mission to “Spread God’s Fame by making disciples of All People”.

    Full-time. Exempt.

    Schedule*

    Office Hours

    Monday – Thursday 8AM to 5PM

    approximately 30-32 hours

    Ministry Hours

    Wednesdays & Weekends

    approximately 8 - 10 hours

    *The schedule for this position may vary and incur overtime depending upon weekend assignments and ministry events that occur in the evenings and on weekends.

    Responsibilities and Expectations

    • Support the overall vision and strategy set by the Next Generation & Teaching Pastor.

    • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of weekly gatherings.

    • Help ensure alignment across all Next Generation environments, such as programming, messaging, and culture.

    • Lead specific ministry areas or gatherings as assigned.

    • Build relationships with students and young adults through consistent presence and engagement.

    • Provide pastoral care, encouragement and discipleship to individuals and small groups.

    • Create a culture of intentional community that fosters a genuine sense of belonging, involvement, and spiritual growth.

    • Connect students and young adults to The Cross Church and next faith steps.

    • Identify, recruit, train, and develop volunteer leaders.

    • Equip leaders to effectively disciple students and young adults.

    • Foster a healthy, team-oriented volunteer culture.

    • Provide ongoing communication, encouragement, and support for team members.

    • Help plan and execute events, retreats, and special gatherings.

    • Coordinate logistics including communication, registration, and follow-up.

    • Ensure environments are welcoming, organized, and engaging.

    • Maintain accurate records and follow-up systems for students and young adults.

    • Assist with communication strategies (email, social media, text, etc.).

    • Support scheduling, calendaring, and ministry organization.

    • Attend a worship service, staff meetings, and ministry team meetings weekly.

    • Foster a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers, and church families.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills

    • Agreement with The Cross Church’s faith statement and mission to spread God’s fame by making disciples of all people.”

    • Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.

    • Established pattern of Bible study and prayer.

    • A personal conviction and calling to ministry.

    • College degree required.

    • Divinity degree preferred.

    • Previous experience in a leadership role at a Baptist church or a comparable denomination.

    • Humility, teachability, and servant leadership in all areas of life and ministry.

    • Passionate about seeing the next generation come to a personal relationship with Jesus and grow in their faith.

    • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to speak confidently before large groups required.

    • Experience with recruiting, motivating, equipping and scheduling volunteers.

    • Ability to use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality.

    • Ability to build relationships across multiple environments (church, families, schools, and community).

    • Relational, self-motivated, strong work ethic, dependable, and reliable.

    • Flexibility to serve where needed.

    • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

    • Competency in computer/web-based technology with the capacity to learn new applications.

    • The Cross Church membership is required.

    • Ability to speak, read and write English.

    • Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.

    • Criminal, financial and sexual misconduct background checks are required.
