Summary Description:
As a Bar Manager you will promote and grow the business, hire and train waitstaff, and ensure that patrons are receiving excellent drinks, food, and service. You will also work shifts as a bartender, manage inventory and resources, plan events, ensure that quality and safety controls are being followed, maintain current licenses and update vendor contracts, create schedules, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximize customer satisfaction. You should also be able to work with diverse personalities and diffuse tense situations.
To succeed as a Bar Manager, you should be observant and can think critically and efficiently. You should be a skilled communicator with excellent problem solving, observation, and interpersonal skills.Reports to: General ManagerFLSA Status: Exempt
Accountable For:
Manage the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, taking inventory, and reordering supplies, managing budgets, and setting goals
Work shifts as bartender as needed
Hiring and training staff to provide excellent service to patrons
Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that bar is well staffed during peak hours
Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls
Ensuring licenses are updated and in line with current legislation
Planning and taking part in promotional events
Diffusing tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues, ejecting unruly persons, if needed
Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for patrons
Organized with orders, invoices, and inventory
Makes initiative to solve problems as they come
Checks for complete assigned side work daily
Complete assigned shift duties
Requirements:
Works clean and maintains a clean station/area
Comfortable holding staff to high standards and holding them accountable
Diligent with Money Handling- Cash Drawers, Safe Counts, Tips, DSR
Understands and follows all policies and procedures
Abides by the standards of restaurant sanitation and safety
Ability to lift 10- 20lbs if necessary
Safely and effectively use all necessary tools and equipment
Stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
2-3 Years Bar Manager and or Restaurant Manager experience
ServeSafe and or TIPs certified a Plus
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
Manages and/or assists with special projects and performs other duties as assigned
Must be available for weekend, holiday, and evening work
Must be willing to be assigned to other properties as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
