    Procurement Manager

    Position Summary:

    The Procurement Manager is responsible for contracting and procuring the company’s supply of products and services, as well as coordinate the planning production and logistics for 3 facilities in conjunction with the respective plant managers. The Procurement Manager will identify cost savings projects for on-going ingredients in addition to sourcing new ingredients to meet product development and regulatory needs.   They will drive cost efficiency through new products, new vendors, optimized production and logistics planning, and strong process management.

    This position interacts directly with vendors, customers and cross-functional business partners. The candidate should expect to operate in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to help deliver on the company’s strategy and goals.  Relocation assistance not offered. 

    Location:  Hermitage, PA

    Compensation:  $70K - $80K, based on experience.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • B.S degree in Supply Chain Management, logistics, business administration, or similar discipline
    • Successful work experience as Procurement Manager, Buyer, or other relevant roles
    • Preferred Commercial Food Manufacturing industry in Procurement
    • Strong working knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as an aptitude for reading the market
    • Exceptional negotiating and networking skills
    • Outstanding decision-making and ability to work well with numbers
    • Significant experience in collecting and analyzing data
    • Excellent, mature leadership capabilities
    • Strong computer and Excel skills - V-lookup, Pivot tables
    • Knowledge of Sage 100C financial system preferred or equivalent. 
    • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
    • Bias to challenge status quo to bring solutions and process improvements

    Scope of Position

     Purchasing:

    • Provides purchasing planning and inventory control by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
    • Responsible for purchasing of raw ingredients and supplies for 3 plants
    • Negotiate purchase price of ingredients, supplies and services
    • Work with plant managers to ensure product availability for production
    • Maintains up-to-date supplier and raw material documentation for primary and secondary suppliers
    • Able to quickly develop rapport with new contacts and establish working relationships

    Purchase Orders within Financial System:

    • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders
    • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers
    • Verify purchase price and approve ingredient/supply invoicing
    • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation

    R&D and QA Support:

    • Seeks approval of all raw materials from QA/R&D
    • Assists R&D with finding new raw materials when needed for projects
    • Ensures all chemicals and other hazardous materials are reviewed and approved by QA prior to purchase and all safety related documentation (SDS) is maintained

    Production Support:

    • Forwards available inventory items by verifying stock & scheduling delivery
    • Transfer inventory of ingredients between plants as needed
    • Verify ingredient availability based on production schedule a minimum of one week in advance
    • Arrange and handle freight for inbound and outbound shipments and trucking schedules
