    Embedded SW Engineering Manager Opportunity at a Glance

    The overriding business objective for the Software Manager will be to lead and develop a team of 15 high performing software engineers tasked with developing embedded control systems and related software tools and applications.  This position will report to the Director of Systems and Software Engineering. We are seeking a technically perceptive leader who can ensure the software team embraces the company’s culture and promote an optimistic, energizing and fun working environment.

    Performance Objectives  Aerospace Embedded Software

    Provide leadership, vision, and clear lines of communication to team members.  Guide, train, develop, and when needed, recruit full time and contract team members.  Deliver flight critical embedded power generation and conversion and secondary power distribution software applications.

    Develop solutions for AC and DC circuit breakers and system control.  Ensure efficient processes and software tools are in place and all software development is not only compliant to DO-178 standards, but also developed efficiently in support of product cost objectives.

    Aerospace Software Engineering Manager NextGen Global Executive SearchCollaborate to provide top-notch support for internal development and lead the Seattle team to be a center of excellence for inter-division projects.  Oversee the efforts of sub-tier suppliers through the establishment of agreements, oversight plans and overall business management.  Determine sufficient staffing levels and recruit and hire additions to staff as needed.  Ensure staff continues to grow and develop.

    Oversee product improvement initiatives focused on maintaining industry leadership.  Provide technical product support for manufacturing, national and international service, marketing/sales, and product management.  Manage the documentation release, launch and implementation to manufacturing for new products and modifications to existing products.  Assist in the development of annual capital, expense, and manpower budgets.

    Requirements to be Considered for this Role

    Must have a BSEE, CS, Math or related, MBA desirable as well as at least 5 years of functional software engineering leadership experience including the management of multiple projects or multiple, direct reporting teams.   A strong understanding of developing embedded applications in a DO-178 environment is crucial to the role.   Product experience involving AC/DC power generation, power conversion and secondary power distribution software is desirable but not required.

    Must display a passion to lead and develop software engineers in a positive, energetic environment.  The ability to balance a take charge attitude with effective collaboration, delegation and communication skills is essential.

    Experience in hiring, training, and long-term career development of qualified SW Development Engineers.   Be willing to be a “hands-on” technical manager from time to time as required.
