    Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Client Administration Project Manager in our Finance department reporting directly the Director of Billing & Collections.

    The position will reside in the New York office and will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and enhancement of client administration systems, modules and processes. Additionally, this role is responsible for documenting and evaluating current processes and procedures globally and for providing recommendations to ensure consistent and efficient operating standards across the firm. Consistent with Firm standards, the Client Administration Project Manager is expected to perform all duties with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff while maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and focusing on continuous improvement.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

    • Be the project management leader for various process improvement projects and system implementations; duties include:
      • Interviewing stakeholders and documenting requirements and processes;
      • Developing and maintaining a project plan and project specifications;
      • Coordinating various resources from within the department and across the firm to ensure project success;
      • Creating and delivering a comprehensive communication strategy that addresses the concerns and needs of Attorneys, Secretaries, Finance, and Business Services professionals.
    • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, manuals and policies related to: new matter intake; client and matter set-up; outside counsel guidelines; time entry; matter plans; rate management (billing rates and discounts); billing and electronic billing; collections, and others as necessary;
    • Develop training materials and formalize onboarding for all positions within Client Administration (billing, collections, rate management and compliance);
    • Perform routine audits to confirm compliance with policy and procedures;
    • Maintains industry knowledge concerning trends, developments and new technologies. This position may assume additional responsibilities as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

    Four year college degree required, specialization in accounting or finance preferred

    Deep understanding of law firm billing and collections processes required

    Project Management experience preferred

    Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Strong organizational skills

    Strong attention to details

    Ability to:

    • Manage multiple initiatives and adjust changing priorities in a professional manner to meet established deadlines
    • Work independently and with a team
    • Quickly identify issues and implement corrective actions
    • Constructively receive and deliver feedback for improved performance

    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook

    Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, office and firm management, and outside business partners
