Private Equity Operating Partner, Nexxus Holdings
BACKGROUND This is a unique opportunity to be the first senior hire of Nexxus Holdings (“NH”), a newly formed investment company by veteran hedge fund manager, Tim Babich. NH will be a holding company of several small, wholly-owned subsidiaries in related industry verticals. NH will acquire and operate established businesses that have the potential to undergo dramatic business model improvement through the application of technology. Due to efficiencies generated by shared information technology expertise at the holding company, digitization will transform the acquired companies leading to long-term growth.
NH’s founder is a highly successful former hedge fund owner and CEO whose returns consistently exceeded all benchmarks and competitors. NH will initially be 100% financed by the founder, who will take an active day-to-day role in building the business. His goal is to establish an elite team of technology-proficient executives who can both analyze financials and also direct change hands-on at portfolio operating companies.

POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As NH’s first senior hire, the candidate has the potential to enter at the ground floor of a company which will build a billion-dollar, world-class portfolio within a few years. The Private Equity Operating Partner will report directly to the CEO and Founder, with dual responsibility for investment/operational analysis pre-acquisition and directing operational change at portfolio companies post-acquisition.
Key aspects of the role, in conjunction with the CEO, include analyzing and identifying attractive investments with the potential for transformation through technology, in-depth investigation of the operations of target companies, traveling for on-site meetings with the management of target companies, preparing investment decision recommendations based on thorough research and in-person assessment of the management’s strengths and weaknesses, design of implementation strategy for profit improvement through application of digital technology, and ongoing hands-on engagement with the operations of the companies acquired to ensure transformation targets are being achieved. The Private Equity Operating Partner will be expected to travel as necessary to fulfill operational restructuring assignments.
The role will be rewarded appropriately with a mix of project bonuses, equity stakes in acquired companies, and growth in compensation and responsibility within NH.
PROFILE
The ideal candidate will have and/or be:
1. A detail-oriented person who has a passion for technology and an appreciation of its application in novel ways.
2. An undergraduate degree from a respected university with a major in Engineering and a solid grounding in Computer Science
3. An MBA from a strong business school (preferred);
4. Strong financial analysis skills, including mastery of Excel, financial modeling, business plan development, and also Power Point presentations;
5. 2-3+ years experience after college in an operating role at a tech, manufacturing, or service industry company;
6. 2-3+ years experience after business school in a business, investment or operations role (preferred);
7. An affinity for operational details and a willingness to get his/her hands dirty;
8. An ability and enthusiasm for working with a wide variety of management and employee types and personalities within the operating companies;
9. An open, engaging, gregarious personality and an ability to function successfully at all levels in social settings from dinner with senior management executives to lunch with operational managers;
10. An aggressive performance-oriented individual who sees him-/herself ideally as part of a championship team rather than merely as a star individual;
11. A person with a firm commitment to excellence and quality in all endeavors, and a strong set of ethical values;
12. A flexible person who will travel to any location needed on short notice and agree to any necessary relocation in order to further the business;
13. A person capable of deep loyalty with an aversion to gossip and office intrigue;
14. A driven performer who wants, above all else, to be part of a championship team.
COMPENSATION Salary will be commensurate with that of similar organizations as well as ability and experience of candidate. The compensation package will feature, in addition to salary, project bonuses and equity participation in acquired companies.
