The Microbiology Technician is responsible for carrying out day to day microbiological testing related to the production of aseptically packaged beverage products under the general supervision of the QA Supervisor/Manager. This role is responsible for setting up laboratory tests for microbial examination to include retrieving biological specimen samples and preparing them for testing as appropriate. Microbiology technicians assess whether specimens meet laboratory standards, document any quality issues, and ensure materials are properly discarded.
Job Description**Essential Functions
**
- Qualified individual is expected to review and report results of microbiological analyses in a timely manner. It is also required that they identify and communicate results that may require further investigation or discussion with a supervisor.
- Technicians must know how to follow aseptic technique and follow Good Laboratory practices. A person in this role should be very knowledgeable of these guidelines and be able to practice them consistently.
- Microbiology technicians may be responsible for keeping inventory of testing materials, ordering and maintaining FEFO (First Expired, First Out) of relevant materials. Micro techs are also responsible for laboratory cleanliness and organization.

Minimum Qualifications:- 4 Years – Experience in Manufacturing Environment
- 4 Years– Experience in Microbiological Laboratory setting
- 4 Years– Experience managing people/projects
- High School Diploma or Equivalent

- Strong Communication Skills - Must have the ability communicate any specimen related information or issues to peers and management clearly and effectively
- Writing Skills – Must be able to clearly and accurately write reports on microbiology testing results.

- Problem Solving – Must be able to identify issues with specimen types and missing information. Be able to engage with lab technicians or other departments to resolve any problems that might arise
- Time Management – Expected to ensure sample turnaround times are met on time. May include sample preparation, data review, and providing data interpretation reports
- Basic Computer Skills – Must be able to utilize basic computer programs and LIMS software to maintain data and create reports: Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
