    The Night Dispatcher plays a critical role in overseeing overnight drayage operations for West Coast Trans Intermodal. This position ensures seamless communication with night drivers and customers, effective scheduling of container moves for same-night and next-day operations, and accurate handling of key administrative tasks. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, and a customer-first mindset, especially during after-hours when resources are limited.

    West Coast Trans Intermodal is located in Wilmington, CA.

    Core Responsibilities

    1. Dispatching & Driver Management

    Assign and schedule drivers for nightly drayage, local FTL, and LTL shipments based on operational priorities and driver availability.

    Monitor driver progress throughout the night to ensure on-time container pickups and deliveries.

    Communicate route changes, delays, or port issues to drivers in real time.

    Track and review driver hours daily; approve hours for payment and maintain updated timesheets.

    Address driver issues or concerns during night operations, escalating to management when needed.

    1. Shipment Coordination & Port Management

    Enter and maintain shipment information in PortPro, BlueCargo, and MSS for active night loads.

    Check Import ETAs, LFDs, Holds, and Port Appointments on SSL and terminal websites; communicate updates to customers as needed and update PortPro.

    Manage Export ERDs, CUTs, Holds, and Port Appointments, ensuring appointments are scheduled and updated in real time for night and next-day operations.

    Oversee and update all port appointments, ensuring drivers have accurate pickup and delivery instructions.

    Process orders from all customers, verifying container statuses and notifying customers of holds with supporting screenshots.

    1. Customer Communication & Service

    Serve as the main point of contact for customers during night operations, providing timely updates on container status, holds, and delivery schedules.

    Provide quotes for new shipment opportunities as needed.

    Resolve customer inquiries and service issues promptly, ensuring positive customer relationships and smooth handoff to the day team when applicable.

    1. Documentation & Administrative Tasks

    Ensure PODs, ingate/outgate tickets, and EIRs are uploaded and sent over to ADMIN for proper uploading.

    Manage accessorial charges (Detention, Stop-off, Dry run, etc.) and update them in load records.

    Maintain the master shipment list with current ERDs, ETAs, CUTs, LFDs, Holds, Port Appointments, and overall load status.

    Support with organizing, scanning, and uploading nightly operational paperwork (manifests, receipts, driver logs).

    1. Billing, Payments & Accounting Support

    Maintain the Owner-Operator Pricing List and approve OO charges on their manifest to pass to accounting/admin.

    Verify and confirm WCTI day drivers’ hours worked or trip pay for longer distance trips when applicable.

    Assist Accounting/Admin in reviewing Port/Rented Chassis days for payables.

    This is a 1099 Contractor position Weekly pay is $1,000 *Additional Compensation opportunities for those able to perform Yard Goat duties.
