DEFINITION:
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a restaurant. Duties include hiring and training restaurant staff following company policies, speaking with diners to address concerns or solve problems and creating work schedules for restaurant staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Hire, train, and supervise restaurant employees
Create staff schedule to ensure appropriate staffing
Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations
Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction
Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
Regularly review product quality and research new vendors
Organize and supervise shifts
Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
Estimate future needs for goods, kitchen utensils and cleaning products
Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it
Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste
Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses
Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events
Recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. discounts and social media ads)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Bachelor's degree in Hospitality preferred
3-5 years of food and beverage service industry experience required
Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler certification card
Working knowledge of general restaurant operations, including personnel management, food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation and health codes, and security
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent leaderships skills
Demonstrated ability to manage operating costs in accordance with budgets
Comfortable setting priorities and delegating tasks as needed
Extremely organized and detail-oriented
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· High level of stamina to work to work on feet for extended periods up to four hours at a time
· Must be able to stoop, bend, and stand for long periods of time.
· Must have the ability to lift trays weighing up to 30 pounds and carry them up and down stairs.
