    SALES AND MERCHANDISING ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Sales and Merchandising Assistant (SMA) is responsible for supporting the Nipkow & Kobelt (dba NK Textile) sales and merchandising teams with all administrative aspects of sales including tracking, reviewing, preparing, and processing approval, development, submission and production samples.  The Sales and Merchandising Assistant will also assist in the organization and maintenance of the company's samples library.  In addition, the position will assist in ensuring that all orders are distributed and confirmed with suppliers, and that all fabric details and pricing are accurately recorded on internal documents as well as documents distributed to suppliers.  Creative opportunities include researching available social media and trend resources to present appropriate ideas, participating in meetings to consider what development samples should be promoted and submitted, and learning technical aspects of fabric to contribute to fabric development.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    -Receives packages and separates line approval samples, customer approval samples, lab-dips, quality samples, and production approval samples for review.   Reviews lab-dips, approval samples, and marketing samples, compares samples to standards and reviews with manager.  Builds and maintains spreadsheets to track approval samples.

    -Prepares outgoing packages for customers and suppliers; makes sure UPS and FedEx information is accurate and that all samples are labeled properly. 

    • For new samples, dates and separates for review with manager, then files on appropriate rack. Maintains and organizes the fabric libraries, and stock lines, which also includes making headers.

    • Assists in developing and maintaining master information spreadsheet each season which becomes the definitive reference source for all other documentation.

    -Assists in photography of fabrics for the fabric photo library, as well as for the NK Textile website.  Responsible for ensuring that photos are current and that all new fabrics are added to the website with correct fabric information.  Helps to remove obsolete photos and information from the website in a timely manner.

    -Assists in preparation of sample presentation hangers, while ensuring that all samples have appropriate photo reference and that information on the labels is accurate.

    -Assists in preparation of Power Point presentations as directed by manager.

    REQUIREMENTS

    College graduate, preferably with a fashion related degree

    Excellent attention to detail

    Highly organized with the ability to multi-task

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Team oriented, motivated, with a positive inquisitive and collaborative attitude

    Strong systems skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

    Must be outgoing, customer focused and a “go getter”

    Interest in textile/fashion industry a plus
