Position: Summer Intern (Analytical Chemistry)

Reporting To: Associate Scientist, Analytical Research and Development

Position Objective

Nitto BioPharma, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of novel RNA-based therapeutics for intractable diseases. The employee holding the Summer Intern position within the Analytical department will execute routine analytical testing of raw materials, bulk intermediates, and formulated materials; analyze stability samples according to established protocols and procedures; perform method development and qualification; complete other tasks as required testing to evaluate novel drug candidates and treatment modalities.

Major Job Functions

• Perform routine testing (including data analysis and reporting of results) that may include but may not limited to: HPLC with detection by UV/MS/CAD, KF, Osmolality, UV-vis spectroscopy, pH, conductivity, micro-plate fluorescence detection
• Develop and qualify analytical methods commensurate with level of experience
• Assist in writing and revising documentation in support of group projects (e.g., Protocols and Reports, SOPs)
• Maintain the laboratory facilities and equipment in a clean and safe manner

Education, Licensure and/or Experience

• Working toward BS in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or related discipline
• Experience with computerized laboratory equipment and software such as Microsoft Office
• Superior writing, problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail
• HPLC experience is preferred
• Ability to work well in collaborative fast-paced team environment

Physical Job Requirements:

Office/Lab environment. Lifting up to 20 pounds may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear. They are required to stand, walk or sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
