Position Overview: VAELA is looking for a new, part-time Executive Director. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and (i) is responsible for daily operational oversight of the organization, (ii) supports the Board of Directors and all VAELA committees to carry out the Strategic Plan, (iii) serves as an ad hoc member of all committees, and (iv) serves as the point of contact for chapter membership. While there are two in-person programs each year that require ~30 hours per week in the two months leading up to the program and full-time, on-site supervision, the position generally requires 24 to 27 hours per week. If these words describe you, you may be the person we are looking for: • Reliable/dependable • Process-oriented / methodical • Trustworthy / Ethical • Empathetic • Thorough • Team player • Sincere • Even-tempered • Humble • Patient • Investigative / Curious • Detail oriented / Analytical / precise/accurate Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: Board and Governance Support: • Support the Board in the execution of the Strategic Plan • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, reports needed to make informed decisions • Support the Board President in producing agendas for all monthly Board meetings • Work with the President and Chair of the Governance and Management Committee to ensure a smooth transition of new Board members Administration and Committee Support • Oversee the daily operations of the Chapter, including being the primary point of contact with members and the public • Responsible for maintaining the VAELA website, including external communications received via the website • Implement and monitor policies and procedures as set by the Board of Directors • Serve as an ad hoc member of all committees, including sending meeting notices, attending meetings, writing and recording meeting notes Member Relations • Serve as the primary point of contact for members to answer membership, listserv, administrative, and program questions. • Develop standard responses to facilitate email and phone responses to frequent requests. • Welcome messages to new members with information on the Chapter and becoming involved. • Build and maintain relationships with other organizations and stakeholders Program Planning • Under the direction of the Board of Directors and Education Committee, lead the coordination and execution of in-person and online Chapter programs from start to finish • Maintain income and expense records for all events • Create and maintain attendee and sponsor registration websites • Oversee securing sponsors and ensure all sponsors receive maximum visibility and value • Communicate registration information/deadlines with members • Complete applications for MCLE and GAL continuing education credits and submit in a timely manner Qualifications: Skills • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail. • Ability to build and maintain relationships with members and key stakeholders • Experience with membership-based organizations • Knowledge of nonprofit regulations and compliance Interested applicants should submit their resume along with a cover letter, references, and salary requirements.
