    JOB POSTING:

    Nonotuck Resource Associates, Inc. is seeking a full-time Finance Assistant. This is a non-exempt, 8am-4pm position reporting to the Senior Accountant. The Finance Assistant works on behalf of the individuals for which Nonotuck is Representative Payee regarding their financial needs and completes all procedures as per approved Rep-Payee Policies. The Finance Assistant also works alongside the Staff Accountant in the reconciliation of Transaction Reports for those individuals in which Nonotuck has delegated money management responsibilities. The Finance Assistant will also be assigned finance department projects outside of the Rep-Payee program.

We are seeking someone who displays high standards of ethical conduct, refrains from dishonest behavior and can maintain strict confidentiality. This person should display a high level of initiative, effort, and attention to detail.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Finance Assistant will work under the supervision of the Senior Accountant and will be responsible for a variety of duties such as tracking and reconciling transaction reports, tracking/reporting account balances for individuals, and generating bills via our Accounts Payable Module. This position is instrumental in the maintenance of individual & Rep-Payee records in accordance with regulations set forth by the Social Security Administration. The Finance Assistant may also be assigned finance department projects outside of the responsibilities of the Rep-Payee department.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field preferred. 2+ years of business-related experience in-lieu of two-year degree. Experience in non-profit sector is plus.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    ** Competencies:**

    • Knowledge of Social Security Administration requirements for Organizational Representative Payees
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, accounting general ledger programs and software
    • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements of the Department of Developmental Services and the Office of Medicaid, Adult Foster Care Services
    • Ability to analyze and see trends in various types of data and recommend follow-up steps in response to conclusions reached
    • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, attention to detail and commitment by completing assignments efficiently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to adapt to new systems and processes and the ability to work remotely when required.

    Communication:

    • Communicate professionally with all individuals, employees and external parties verbally and in writing
    • Ability to arrive at consensus to change and improve current practices and procedures
    • Exchanges information with individuals or groups effectively by listening and responding appropriately
