    Job Purpose This position serves as the “right hand person” and partner to the Executive Director. Organizational growth, sustainability and increased visibility are the underlying goals. Our program model is intentional, intensive, and individualized; we support our scholars to education and career success.

    Job Summary Assist the Executive Director in driving the organization's mission, expanding programs, and fostering growth. Lead operations, manage staff, vendors and volunteers, support strategic initiatives, and fundraising efforts in this dynamic mission-driven nonprofit role.

    Qualifications, Experience, Abilities & Skills The ideal candidate brings exceptional project and people management skills, maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries while prioritizing organizational goals; excels in written and verbal communication—including proposals, emails, and copy-editing—and builds strong relationships through proactive leadership, strategic thinking, and a “CAN-DO” attitude. Highly organized and adaptable, with reliable transportation and the ability to support off-site tasks as needed.

    The Environment: A friendly, hard-working, highly collaborative, results-driven, positive team. The job is full-time - 40-hours weekly, some evenings and Saturdays, flexible schedule. Hybrid position with remote and in-person work, with COVID safety considerations when necessary.

    Job Duties and Requirements

    Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of proven leadership and team management in a related field and a relevant bachelor’s degree, demonstrating expertise and a strong commitment to equity, collaboration, and community impact."

    Preference for candidates with knowledge of nonprofit management and/or human resources compliance

    Project management skills required.

    Ideal candidate is a highly organized systems thinker with excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (including emails, proposal development, and copy-editing). They are self-directed, collaborative, creative, and an independent self-starter with networking and analytical abilities.

    Computer literacy with strong working-knowledge and skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and Google Docs, Sheets and Slides.

    1. Operational Leadership

    Systematize and streamline administrative processes for an efficient workflow

    Develop and manage policies and procedures for operationalizing the work of AISS

    Manage financial systems, including payroll and bookkeeping. Be the primary liaison with a contracted accountant/bookkeeper

    Lead infrastructure development (technology, reporting, etc.) to further Achievement Institute for STEM Scholars’ mission leading to the success of our scholars

    Assist Executive Director with budget planning, office management, nonprofit paperwork, and strategic planning

    Support Executive Director as the project manager for new projects and initiatives

    1. Staff Management

    Manage human resources functions of the organization, including benefits, onboarding and professional development

    Manage all contractors and vendors, oversee volunteers

    Manage staff schedules, including meeting schedules and ensuring adequate coverage for programs

    Ensure all staff have the resources needed for effective job performance

    Serve as a mentor and coach for more junior staff

    Assist the Executive Director with board recruitment, management, and subcommittee management.

    1. Strategic Initiatives

    Work with the Executive Director on strategy, new initiatives and special partnerships.

    Be an advocate and spokesperson for AISS in the local community

    Engage and manage partnerships with schools and other community-based organizations, including contracting and partnership management

    Research and strategize long-term projects

    Help with the coordination of special events

    Be a thought partner around organizational growth

    1. Participate as part of the AISS Leadership Team

    2. Other Duties as Assigned by Executive Director to further our mission.
