    Our client, a uniform & apparel wholesale manufacturer with offices on the Nassau/Suffolk county Long Island border has an exceptional opportunity for an Accounting Associate on their Finance team.  Must have a Bachelors with Minimum of 1 year experience working in A/R, solid understanding of the General Ledger, familiar with Freight Rebates and Strong Excel skills...

    The Accounting Associate will primarily be responsible with month end close process. The ideal candidate is a fast learner with ability to work efficiently with minimal errors.

     

    Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and assist with month end close process
    • Maintain, analyze and reconcile general ledger
    • Prepare general ledger entries and maintain supporting documents
    • Create and document accounting policies and procedures
    • Interact and provide support to third party professional with regard to audit and tax preparation
    • Calculate monthly freight rebate and sales commission reports
    • Assist with managing day to day operation of accounting department (accounts payable, billing, credit and collections, accounts receivable)
    • Learn billing, payables and receivable functions and provide as back up
    • Ensure effective internal controls are in place and maintain compliance with US GAAP
    • Assist with conversion of ERP systems
    • Perform other duties as required by manager

     

    Qualifications/Skills:

    • Prior knowledge and experience within an Accounting/Finance group specifically in Accounts Receivable and collections’ function.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and professional to all departments, clients and vendors.
    • Must be a self-started and able to work with little supervision.
    • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently.
    • Have an analytical approach to problem solving.
    • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft office (intermediate Excel) and Accounting/Finance Systems

    Education:

    Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.

     

    Note this role is full time M- F 8-5pm with an hour for lunch (salary based on experience to $27/hour - approx $50K)
