Oakland, CA based medical device company seeks a senior mechanical engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize electro-mechanical engineering knowledge to design and develop next-generation of their devices and accessories.
- Plan coordinate, and execute design activities to support the project goals
- Analyze and resolve technical design-related issues using objective engineering principles.
- Conceptualize new devices using material knowledge and innovative mechanical design.
- Conceive, design, and build prototypes.
- Design and run test protocols to evaluate prototypes.
- Development and assembly of manufacturing tools, aids, and fixtures.
- Development of processes and procedures to improve assembly line efficiency.
- Run empirical and experimental analyses.
- Support bench testing and clinical evaluations.
- Support design reviews and physician visits.
- Work with outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute activities in support of project goals.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Maintains knowledge of the developing clinical environment (i.e. current treatment methods, evolving clinical needs etc.).
- Create and maintain engineering drawing with working knowledge of ASME Y14.1, Y14.5, and GD&T.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent). Electro-mechanical experience preferred.
- 5 years of experience in medical device engineering.
- Proficiency with using SolidWorks
- Strong working knowledge of sound design principles and practices and risk management techniques.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and design of experiments.
- Experience with designing and testing medical devices.
- Understanding of biocompatible materials and design.
