    Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine Director of Marketing & Communications Position Summary This position is responsible for planning and implementing Noorda-COM marketing, advertising, communications, and public relations initiatives that engage members of the community, media, government officials, potential donors and investors, future alumni, prospective and current students, and friends of the College. The position also has oversight responsibility for the management of the Noorda-COM brand, website, and social media platforms, and is involved in college-wide programs of marketing, development services, community relations, campus communications, and special events. Responsibilities

    1. Administrative Oversight of all Marketing & Communications 1.1. Direct day-to-day management of marketing & communications office (facilitating meetings, preparation of reports, and ensuring adherence to policies, practices, and protocols, etc.) 1.2. Develop budget recommendations to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement for approval. Assume fiscal accountability and oversight for prudent management of financial resources (adhere to proper practices, monitor expenditures, reconcile monthly, assess needs, ensure optimal utilization of resources, etc.) 1.3. Oversee and manage any direct reports, interns, volunteers, or contracted vendors (define/outline roles and responsibilities, assign tasks/projects, ensure productivity, provide guidance toward optimal performance, clarify/instruct on duties, deadlines, expectations, and review outcomes and performance evaluations.) 1.4. Assist with and serve as a resource for problem resolution (trouble-shoot problems, change duties as demands dictate, delegate and/or redistribute tasks/projects, assist with crisis management, etc.) 1.5. Work effectively as a team member to enhance and improve programs, including potential opportunities for collaborative efforts within the department or with outside individuals, programs, or departments; building and maintaining a climate hospitable to creativity and innovation. 1.6. Ensure that all policies and procedures related to Marketing & Communications are adhered to by the campus community. Provide recommended policy updates or new policies to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement for President’s Council review and approval as needed.
    2. Marketing Strategy and Planning 2.1. Collaboratively create, plan, develop, and execute short and long term integrated marketing strategies for Noorda-COM. 2.2. Advance the Noorda-COM mission, vision, and guiding principles through an integrated marketing program. 2.3. Lead and champion marketing strategies to ensure effective execution within Noorda-COM for the purpose of consistency and efficacy in external messaging. 2.4. Working in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs, assist in developing and executing marketing strategies for student recruitment when appropriate and needed, while influencing the perception of Noorda-COM for prospective and diverse faculty and staff. 2.5. Use data and metrics to evaluate and adapt strategies to address the evolving needs of Noorda-COM and its programs.
    3. Communication and Content Strategy and Planning 3.1. Develop and implement short and long term integrated and targeted communications and content plans that support the marketing strategy. 3.2. Deliver important brand and leadership information and messaging to key constituents, reinforcing our unique brand position, mission, vision, and guiding principles. 3.3. Consult with Noorda-COM leadership team, faculty, student groups, and staff on promotions/advertising, policies, programs, and courses of action related to marketing and communications protocols, news media, and public relations issues. 3.4. Promote faculty research and expertise through a mix of tactics, including but not limited to, media relations, thought leadership content, and high-touch events. 3.5. Develop and enhance internal and external content strategies for Noorda-COM stories about student and faculty successes, new programs and offerings, Noorda-COM outreach, and opportunities for engagement. 3.6. Develop and implement digital strategies to enable a more cohesive experience for Noorda-COM constituents across digital channels, including the Noorda-COM website and social media, email, etc., supported by a reporting and analytics infrastructure to improve marketing campaign performance.
    4. Brand Management Strategy and Oversight 4.1. Develop and implement a strong brand strategy and story, aimed at improving brand awareness and reputation. 4.2. Own and champion the Noorda-COM brand strategy, including unique brand position, visual identity and expression, overarching story and supporting messaging, personality, and voice. 4.3. Strengthen the Noorda-COM brand experience among regional and national audiences, including current and prospective students, faculty and peers, donors, government leaders, the media, and other external audiences. 4.4. Develop brand level marketing channels and campaigns, including oversight of the Noorda-COM website, social media platforms, advertising campaigns, and special events. 4.5. Develop and oversee the design, production, and placement of all advertisements promoting Noorda-COM. 4.6. Serve as “brand manager” for Noorda-COM, providing guidelines for maintaining graphic standards/brand identity utilized throughout the organization.
    5. Website and Social Media Management and Oversight 5.1. Management and oversight of the Noorda-COM website to include coordination with all content owners and continuous enhancements to platform and content material including assuring compliance with all accreditation and regulatory body requirements. 5.2. Regularly ensure website information is current, correct, and user friendly. Maintain website updates to ensure user issues are resolved quickly and any technical concerns are troubleshooted and resolved promptly. 5.3. Working in collaboration with responsible parties and content providers (Admissions, Student Affairs, Wellness, Clinical Education, Research, etc.), provides management and oversight of Noorda-COM’s social media platforms to include coordination with all content providers to ensure regular, timely, and appropriate postings. 5.4. Regularly ensure social media platforms are regularly updated and providing appropriate and timely content. 5.5. Use data analytics to ensure optimization of website and social media platforms to strengthen Noorda-COM brand position.
    6. Public and Media Relations Management 6.1. Coordinates with public relations consultant and various Noorda-COM leaders, faculty, and staff on all media contacts, communications, and/or interactions to include message, promotion, etc. in which a Noorda-COM representative has been asked to serve as an official representative, content expert, or spokesperson on behalf of the College. 6.2. Working with public relations consultant, prepare media advisories and press releases as appropriate and coordinate media interviews, including providing talking points/bullet points in advance of any interviews. 6.3. Develop and manage Noorda-COM’s speakers’ bureau for content experts and public speaking engagement opportunities. 6.4. Actively promote Noorda-COM faculty experts, events, programs, achievements, and activities to local, regional, and national media and to other internal and external audiences.
    7. Community Engagement and Special Events 7.1. Build collaborative partnership opportunities across and among various internal and external entities participating in networking opportunities which promote and expand relationships with Noorda-COM. 7.2. Assist with event management and/or support for Noorda-COM events. 7.3. Provide oversight for communications and marketing-related components of Noorda-COM events and promote Noorda-COM events through all communication channels. 7.4. Represent Noorda-COM with community organizations and at community functions as needed. Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English or other related field. Advanced degree preferred. US citizenship or permanent residency is required. Experience: Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, integrated marketing, brand management, or advertising/public relations. Experience in a medical school preferred, but allied health or higher education experience will be considered. Experience with advancement/ development programs and/or donor relations is a plus. Skills & Abilities: Highly professional with honest, genuine, direct communication style, excellent interpersonal skills and emotional maturity with the essential ability to demonstrate tact, discretion and job diplomacy. Must have the ability to work diplomatically and effectively with a variety of internal and external constituents. Proven track record of quality, integrity and trustworthiness. Ability to make common sense, consistent and fair decisions (based on fact and data), and have courage of convictions and tolerance for ambiguity. Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality in dealing with community leaders, the media, prospective and current donors, etc. Competencies: • Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills. • Self-confident, strong leader, skilled decision-maker with ability to lead by influence and effectively communicate with various constituencies across the college and in the community. • Able to work independently and be an effective participant in cross-functional teams. • Self-motivated, self-disciplined, have a strong work ethic and capable in establishing priorities in an executive setting. • Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and effectively handle frequent interruptions. • Innovative, resourceful, detailed oriented, with excellent follow through skills. • Capable of balancing multiple projects in stressful situations while meeting deadlines, achieving desired results, and maintaining positive relations while understanding of the importance of confidentiality of data and information. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as the Adobe Create Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and WordPress for website development.
