    Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine Technical Services Librarian Description: The Technical Services Librarian is responsible for ensuring access to print and digital collections through electronic resources management at the Noorda-COM Library. This position will oversee the cataloging and interlibrary loan components within the department, as well as supporting the learning services operations of the Noorda-COM Library. The successful candidate will have an orientation towards student success, ensuring academic achievement, building collaborative partnerships, and contributing to institutional service activities; fulfilling duties to further the mission of the department and college by participating in student education, scholarly activities, and service. Librarians are faculty at Noorda-COM and are encouraged to conduct original research/scholarly activities and pursue extramural funding in their areas of interest. Responsibilities:

    1. Oversees the life cycle of physical and electronic resources within the library 1.1. Troubleshoots electronic resources and manages access within the discovery service, Libguides products, and ILS 1.2. Coodinates proxy stanza updates within EZProxy 1.3. Tracks usage of electronic resources, and make evidence based recommendations as necessary and provides usage metrics for reporting. 1.4. Maintains authority records in library catalog 1.5. Ensures the integrity of the library’s database of bibliographic records by performing regular maintenance on bibliographic records to clean up records and improve accuracy 1.6. Oversees physical processing of printed materials, physical items, and audiovisual media 1.7. Oversees Interlibrary Loan operations for Noorda-COM Library 1.8. Establishes, documents, and updates procedures relating to technical services 1.9. Stays abreast of product developments, changes to subscribed resources, and communicate to Noorda-COM community as necessary
    2. Serves as an educator ensuring the quality, integrity, and defined standards within faculty’s discipline. 2.1. Assists in creating information literacy modules across all four years of the curriculum 2.2. Ensures teaching is current and appropriate for the context of the curriculum and increases student understanding of subject matter. 2.3. Works effectively as a team member to enhance and improve curricula, including potential opportunities for collaborative efforts within the department or with outside individuals, programs, or departments; contributing to a climate hospitable to creativity and innovation.
    3. Ability to accomplish research 3.1. Collaborates with and/or mentors faculty, staff and students (internal and external) to develop and implement research topics (including formulating concepts, brainstorming approaches, organizing ideas, collecting, analyzing and synthesizing data) in support of preparation of manuscripts for publication and submission for intramural and extramural grants leading to the execution of scholarly research (facilitating the preparation, modifying and refining of proposals and applications, seeking external funding, developing and maintaining positive rapport with funding agencies, etc.) 3.2. Presents at various conferences locally, nationally and internationally including developing content, submitting for consideration, finalizing presentation and delivering on time
    4. As relates to the department, actively engages in the advancement of the College 4.1. Builds collaborative partnership opportunities across and among various entities participating in networking opportunities, [internal and external partners [elected officials, state constitutional officers, business and community leaders] other colleges and universities, hospitals, local organizations, societies, etc.] promoting relationships with the College. 4.2. Refers to and coordinates in advance with the Communications team in the Office of the President on all media contacts, communications, and/or interactions to include message, promotion, etc. in which asked to serve as an official representative, content expert, or spokesperson on behalf of the College. 4.3. Coordination in advance with the Communications team in the Office of the President on all Noorda-COM related legislative issues to include contact with the national, state, and local government officials, in which asked to serve as an official representative, content expert, or spokesperson on behalf of the College. 4.4. Serves on various committees and teams within the College as assigned (attending meetings, contributing to discussions, sharing/exchanging information, and leading constituents toward goal attainment) to include advising and mentoring (Students, clubs, campus organizations) 4.5. Contributes to College’s compliance with and in the development of required documentation as related to accreditation of the College to which departmental content is contributed (faculty adequacy model, gathering data, self-assessment, peer review, providing input/feedback, etc.) aiding in the attainment of academic compliance. 4.6. Participates in the production of various College materials [academic calendar, strategic planning, directory, College website, etc.] (collecting/preparing materials, organizing/formatting data, adhering to various deadlines, reviewing drafts, providing input/feedback, etc.). 4.7. Contributes to the College’s reputation/image of being one of the best osteopathic medical colleges (monitoring outcomes, partnering with internal and external stakeholders, modifying techniques, etc.). Qualifications: Education: A master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited program required. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a professional role in a library or related institution is required. Experience in a health sciences library is preferred. Required qualifications • Knowledge of electronic resource management and access • Experience managing a knowledge base, link resolver, discovery service, and/or an integrated library system • Prior experience with Interlibrary Loan • Cataloging experience • Strong customer service orientation • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Preferred qualifications • Experience providing library instruction • Working knowledge of medical information resources such as PubMed • Experience with copyright and fair use principles • Experience with Springshare products • Experience with Koha • AHIP certification Skills & Abilities: Highly professional with honest, genuine, direct communication style, excellent interpersonal skills, and emotional maturity with the essential ability to demonstrate tact, discretion, and job diplomacy.
