Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Thermal Design Engineer develops custom designs of heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) based on customer requirements. Offers standard and unique solutions of the marketplace, building a competitive advantage through innovation.

Routine Decision Making/Problem Solving:

Design heat recovery equipment based on the customer's process requirements and heating surface optimization. Selects materials for components operating at various pressure and temperature conditions. Sizes heat exchangers and auxiliary equipment based on the company philosophy as defined in design guidelines.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Evaluates customer specifications by making comments, clarifications and requesting additional/missing information.

*Detailed design of HRSGs including all calculations

*Generate auxiliary equipment specifications at the proposal and job stages. Evaluate related bids.

*Support the project team with technical issues through all stages of job execution.

*Develop data sheets for Estimating, Sales, I&C and Drafting groups. Generate the technical part of the Sales proposal.

*Actively participate in technical meetings with customer at various states of project development.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics
• Knowledge of and skill in using personal computers and related software

• Ability to problem solve, possess good judgement, make quick decisions and interpret data/analyze results
• Effective written and verbal communication is essential
• Able to read and understand complex technical material
• Able to excite clients with product design and convince them that they are buying the best product available

• Able to manage one's time effectively
• Capable of developing good working relationships with clients and internal customers

FORMAL EDUCATION: Four-year college education in mechanical or chemical engineering; Position requires a minimum 3.4/4.0 overall GPA

• EXPERIENCE: Entry Level; 0 to 3 years' experience

May be required to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10%.
