    Job Description

    Job Summary The Cost Analyst is a newly created position and a key liaison between Finance, Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering, providing management analysis and metrics that will help guide and accelerate customer experience & growth. This new role will assist in building relevant, repeatable, and sustainable processes that enhance the controls of the business operations. Experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, and manufacturing with solid Advanced level in Excel is required. Principal Activities and Responsibilities 1. Develop, gather, and analyze financial data in conjunction with Finance, Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering departments to ensure that business requirements are being satisfied 2. Review Sales job requests, including selected products, and assist Sales & Operations in developing cost estimates, reviewing material and labor costs, and product and margins 3. Provide in-depth analysis and explanations of cost and variances for material purchases and manufacturing costs 4. Determine standard costs and investigate variances with actual costs. Estimate product costs for existing and new products 5. Help management make important decisions based on costs and benefits (e.g. investments, market growth, pricing changes) 6. Assist with the transition from QuickBooks to an Inventory Management System and/or ERP system. Task will include reset and sku rationalization between Salesforce, Magento [website], and QuickBooks 7. Conduct market research and e-commerce competitive reviews to support future business planning and decision making 8. Forecast and analyze costs of processes, labor, and inventory 9. Streamline monthly processes and propose new activities/technologies and cost reductions to add value to the business 10. Support, as required, monthly close with valuation reports that support month end general ledger balances, variance analytics, including inventory and cost of production, and cost of shipments. 11. Conduct audits on financial processes and transactions Education and Experience * Candidate should be a qualified cost analyst or cost specialist with 3 to 7 years manufacturing experience; ideally in a product-based business. * Experience in designing, implementing, and embedding processes in conjunction with operations management. * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills coupled with the ability to develop automated processes to extract raw data from database platforms and convert to high quality management information. Skills 1. The individual will be energetic, enthusiastic, hard-working, will have strong analytical skills, a positive approach to challenges, and thinking creatively to solve problems 2. The individual will be keen to learn in a fast-paced, growing and changing business. 3. Strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, including a strong understanding of standard costs, COGS, inventory, WIP, BOM, PPV, and overhead allocation. 4. Experience in data, operational & financial analysis and being able to develop financial models to analyze Sales, COGS, GM by product lines, by locations, and by regions. 5. The role requires strong interpersonal skills for interaction with a wide variety of disciplines within the business. The successful candidate won't be the sort of person who hides behind e-mails. 6. Excellent attention to detail whilst maintaining the ability to appreciate and plan for the big picture. 7. Relentless commitment to understanding, challenging, and improving the financial performance of the business. 8. Knowledge of accounting processes and software (Salesforce, Tableau, Quickbooks, Inventory Management Systems / ERP other enterprise) experience is desired 9. Strong organizational and time-management skills and a sense of priority. 10. Degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field. Certifications such as a CPA, or CMA along with knowledge of GAAP is preferred but not required.
