  • Responsibilities

    SOUND TECHNICIAN Purpose: Work under the direction of the Director of Music and Worship Arts (DMWA), and in collaboration with the Sound Team/Sound Team Leader (STL) to provide the best possible musical sound and clear spoken word for the glory of God in our live /livestreamed Sunday morning worship services and other various events including special services, concerts, productions and/or rehearsals. The Sound Technician has specific responsibility for the following tasks: Pre-service/event 1. Go over the order of each service and musical performance sound needs with the DMWA . 2. Set up sound equipment for live services, including band and choral set up as needed. Ensure sound cables are safely taped down where needed. 3. Perform proper line checks. 4. Perform proper sound check as directed which may include: gain settings, monitor mixes, proper volume and balance settings, and the eq/mixing process. 5.Set up of livestream/ensure proper functionality for service. 6. Ensure Pastor's mics are operational with individual sound checks. 6. On a service by service basis other reasonable sound tasks may be assigned by DMWA or requested by Pastors or STL as needed. Example: set up auxiliary sound board, mic guest speakers, mic soloists. During service/event 1. Responsible for adjusting sound levels during service as needed and/or directed by DMWA or STL. 3. Responsible for livestreaming each service. 4. Responsible for carefully following and working each service or event, distraction free, from beginning to end, with attention to detail and focus on all aspects of sound production and livestream for all spoken word and all music production. 5. Ensure Pastors are clearly heard. 6. Provide or respond to communication with DMWA and/or STL as needed during services. Post-service/event 1. Coordinate with the DMWA re any sound issues that may have existed during the service, either from the Sound Technician or the DMWA point of view. 2. Note any broken/faulty equipment and take it out of service in coordination with the DMWA and STL. 3. Make recommendations to DMWA and STL (if present) as to equipment needs or set up that may improve the sound product. 4. Tear down sound equipment after each service/event. 5. Leave the stage (altar) in neat condition, store equipment in orderly manner. General 1 Make best efforts to respond to any communications from DMWA and/or Sound Team Leader in a timely manner during the week. (all time worked is paid ) 2 Keep track of all time worked for payroll. 3 This is a part time hourly position for 52 weeks a year. Up to 6 unpaid Sundays off are allotted per calendar year. Other working services include special holiday and other services and various concerts and productions. 4. Additional work services such as weddings, funerals may also be available to Sound Technician. Qualifications & Skills Required: 1 Background and training in sound and live music production. 2. Ability to run a sound board and livestream, 3. Able to work in a team setting and take directions. 4 High attention to detail. 5. Good communication skills 6. Ability to think quickly and react appropriately in live performance settings. 7. Willing to attend training sessions and read/watch other training material for improving existing skills. 8. Punctuality and dependability. 9. A musical ear/musical training is highly desirable 9. A heart for worship and a positive attitude. Part time employment, $25/hour with paid training
