JOB SUMMARY

This role will combine expertise in technical disciplines (e.g. data center infrastructure, application workflow design, web services design, database design, virtualization, security, etc.) as well as business functions.This position isresponsible for designing solutions, implementing IT ecosystems, and collaborating with product owners. Provide technical leadership on complex projects and research new technology for use by the department. The Principal Technologist will devise strategies regarding IT standards, design best practices, availability, and platform scalability.Must have excellent communication skills including writing, listening, and verbal. Capable of translating technical topics to business sponsors and executives. Interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to lead and partner with all areas of day-to-day operations.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

Provide leadership, technology expertise, direction, coordination, and consultation for new and existing products and solutions

Create and drive solutions in alignment with the Company's overall vision and business goals

Works with the team to define standards and frameworks with regards to Compute, Storage and Networks

Promote use of innovative new technology and best practices for Business Units or Enterprise-wide new product and solution initiatives

Design systems fit for purpose, performance, availability, scalability, recoverability and security

Lead additional IT resources as needed to fulfill the demands of the role

Conduct research focused on identifying emerging technology solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiencies, provide more value, provide more capabilities and reduces risk

Assess requirements and recommend solutions that meet business needs in alignment with IT standards and strategic direction

Communicate best practices by giving presentations, working with project teams, and authoring content aimed at educating others about standards, strategies, and otherwise defined procedures

Participate in complex cross-domain and cross-functional matrixed project teams to implement solutions in a highly collaborative manner

Partner with security teams on data classification reviews, security risk assessments, and security best practices during new application implementations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to schedule and lead technical meetings with Subject Matter Experts

Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly

Ability to demonstrate working knowledge and experience with Waterfall and Agile development methodology

Advanced knowledge in compute, storage, infrastructure architecture, protocols and network topologyAdvanced knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI ModelAdvanced knowledge of network devices and network appliancesAdvanced knowledge of data management and storage appliancesAdvanced knowledge designing and understanding Dataflow Diagrams using Visio or similar toolsAdvanced knowledge of at least two web server platforms (Apache, IIS, Nginx, etc.)Advanced knowledge of at least two application server platforms (WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, JBOSS, etc.)Advanced knowledge of at least two database server platforms (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, Hadoop, etc.)

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field or related work experience, Master s Degree preferred

Related Work Experience

Experience developing, designing, and configuring systems and/or applications 10+ yearsProject-based work experience 6+ yearsExperience working in Telecommunications industry 3 5+ years

Technology agnostic and experience working with multiple technology stacks
