  • Responsibilities

    The Child Care Manager will provide management and support in the operation of the Child Care Program, primarily providing direction to the Early Childhood program through the implementation of duties and supervision of staff. This is accomplished by providing direction and oversight to professional staff who are responsible for improving the quality of child care in Early Learning Programs, managing contracts, overseeing budgets and deliverables, and maintaining continuous communication and coordination of Child Care program activities with the Senior Workforce Development Manager - Child Care, Administration Department and Fiscal Manager. The Child Care Manager will also provide support to the Senior Workforce Development Manager-Child Care in the oversight of the Child Care subsidy program.  Other duties include: designing and developing Early Learning program goals and plans, objectives and outcomes, researching and recommending additional program activities to improve service delivery and assisting in the development and execution of program contracts and amendments and supporting the North Central Texas Workforce Board and appropriate Board Committees.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

    • Designs goals and objectives that correlate with the Workforce Development strategic plan; analyzing and ensuring federal, state rules and regulations are met; requesting feedback from internal and external partners as it relates to improving the quality of care in the region; providing technical assistance; developing policies and procedures for the delivery of services.
    • Develops budgets and works with appropriate staff in the development of RFP’s or RFQ’s. Provides oversight for multiple contracts.
    • Assists the Senior Manager for Workforce Development – Child Care by attending local, state and national meetings; taking leadership roles and making decisions in statewide work group or committees.
    • Manages professional staff by recommending staffing plans; conducting interviews and making decisions regarding new hires, promotion decisions; planning and conducting performance appraisals; recommending salary increases; assigning work and project activities to staff and reviewing work for approval and feedback; handling personnel issues and conflicts; mentoring and coaching staff.

    The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to not only monitor staff performance but also to mentor, coach and motivate staff. Must have the capability and be comfortable delegating and holding staff accountable for work production.  The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel and have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

    Required Experience

    Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or Public Administration with 5-7 years of job related experience.
