Scope of Role
Advanced Diabetes Supply, a division of North Coast Medical Supply (NCMS), specializes in making it easier for patients living with Diabetes by providing their diabetes testing supplies nationwide. Our highly trained staff and proprietary technology ensure Customer satisfaction with every shipment. Reporting to the Pharmacy Supervisor, our NCMS Part-Time Pharmacist works within the scope of responsibilities as dictated below.
Primary Responsibilities, Expected Professional Competencies
- Supervision of pharmacy technicians and other ancillary staff, and all their duties.
- Thorough review of prescriptions for authenticity and completeness to comply with all pharmacy state laws, federal laws, and payer requirements.
- Review and verify all outgoing shipments of legend medications and devices, syringes and pen needles to ensure accurate and complete dispensing of items requested by customers.
- Courteous, professional and detail-orientated while communicating with patients, caregivers and prescribers’ offices.
- Obtain clear, thorough verbal prescriptions and prescription clarifications.
- Record all communication with patients, caregivers or prescriber offices into the patient computer profiles.
- Review all patient information such as allergies, medication profile and health problems, to whom we dispense medications, to determine potential allergic reactions, drug-drug interactions and drug-disease interactions, and appropriateness and efficacy of drug therapy. Contact physician and/or patient when appropriate.
- Supervision of the delivery, storage, safekeeping, dispensing and return of legend products.
- Adapt quickly to frequent process changes and improvements
- Perform any additional responsibilities or special projects as required
- Duties and responsibilities may be subject to change based upon the needs of the department
Required Education, Training and/or Professional Experience
- One year or more of experience in pharmacy; retail pharmacy or an accredited place of employment preferred
- Clear diction and knowledge of the English language, both written and verbal
- Work history of excellent attendance and punctuality
- Some experience with medical insurance and/or DME a plus
- High comfort level working with culturally diverse team members and clients
- Bilingual in Spanish (read, write, and speak) preferred
Licensure / Certification Requirements
Candidate must successfully pass a background check and drug screening test.
Doctor or Bachelors of Science of Pharmacy degree from an accredited professional university.
Valid and unrestricted California state Pharmacist License
License must be active and clear, including required continuing education requirements; subject to verification at any time
