Job Summary
****The Delivery Driver is responsible for the timely, accurate, and safe delivery of newspapers from the production warehouse to designated distribution points, vendors, and customers. This role plays a critical part in ensuring daily publications reach their destinations on schedule while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Load, transport, and deliver newspapers from the production warehouse to assigned routes and delivery locations
- Verify delivery quantities and ensure accuracy of all shipments
- Follow established delivery schedules, routes, and procedures to meet strict deadlines
- Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and company policies
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Assist with loading and unloading bundles, including repetitive lifting and stacking
- Maintain delivery logs, route documentation, and required paperwork
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, supervisors, and distribution contacts regarding delays or issues
- Ensure newspapers are protected from damage during transport
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and work area
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to safely operate delivery vehicles (vans, box trucks, or similar)
- Ability to lift, carry, and move bundles weighing up to 40–50 lbs repeatedly
- Strong time-management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by production schedules
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Basic communication and record-keeping skills
- Previous delivery or warehouse experience preferred, but not required
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work is primarily performed in a warehouse and delivery vehicle environment
- Exposure to varying weather conditions during deliveries
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven production schedule
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
