QA/QC OFFICER

 North Jersey District Water Supply Commission (NJDWSC) has an immediate opening at our offices in Wanaque, NJ, for a QA/QC Officer.  This facility includes a Water Treatment Plant, an Aqueduct Distribution System, a Residual Treatment Facility and an environmental certified Laboratory.  The Commission is seeking a QA/QC Officer for its certified Laboratory to perform a key role in maintaining the analytical requirements for the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Coordinates Lab Quality Control and review.  Tasks include, and are not limited to: maintaining lab certifications, supervising the writing and development of all QA/QC procedures and method standard operating procedures for lab.  Analysis review, approval and compilation for all Drinking Water and Pollutant report submittals.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

 ·       Possession of a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in biology or chemistry or a related field and 5 years of full time experience as a professional chemist, at least three of which are in water analysis.

·       Knowledge of the chemical and bacteriological characteristics of water, general quantitative and qualitative analysis, laboratory instruments and their usage, sources of information related to water analysis and water quality, sampling techniques and methods of statistical analysis, standard analytical procedures, federal and state laws and regulations governing water quality, per NJ Certified Laboratories.

·       Must have excellent technical written and verbal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with lab staff and other departments.

·       Candidates should possess strong computer skills including Excel and Word, be highly organized and possess problem solving and supervisory skills.
