  • Responsibilities

    NPWA is seeking an experienced water utility worker with the skills and desire to work both in the field and office. The Inspector is a disciplined, determined individual with strong communication skills who builds effective working relationships with contractors, and acts as a liaison to customers and local government officials.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Communicate NPWA installation specifications, quality standards, changes, repairs, and safety protocols to contractors.
    • Manage inspections and monitor the construction progress of water main installations, service renewals, easements, facility construction projects, and restoration construction projects to ensure NPWA plan specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols are precisely followed.
    • Work closely with the NPWA Construction Supervisor and Engineering team and present field reports, discuss and find solutions for construction issues, and provide input on design projects.
    • Identify construction and maintenance issues, create punch lists, schedule repairs, and ensure work is complete.
    • Use GPS to locate assets and supports other functions of the Engineering and Construction departments.
    • Represent NPWA at pre-construction, job progress, and other meetings.
    • Act as a liaison to customers, schools, county police and fire, and municipalities to provide information and resolve issues through verbal and written communication.

    Qualifications

    • High School Graduate or equivalent.
    • 4 – 5 years of water utility work experience.
    • Valid Driver's License required.

    Specialized Skills & Knowledge

    • Ability to read blueprints.
    • Construction knowledge.
    • Familiarity with Cityworks, GPS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
