LBYD was founded in 1973 with the incorporation of E. Glenn Bishop & Associates. In 1978, with the merger of the structural engineering firm Lane & Hodnett Structural Engineers, the firm became Lane/Bishop/Hodnett, Inc. In 1987, the firm became LaneBishopYorkDelahay Inc., which is known today as LBYD Engineers. In 2001, LBYD began offering civil engineering services. With the addition of the civil department and the continued commitment of our structural department, LBYD has experienced growth at a phenomenal rate. We continue to pursue growth opportunities evidenced by opening more branch offices throughout the Southeast region.
The Project Engineer position takes an increasingly responsible role as an Engineer. Responsibilities will include responsibilities assigned to a Design Engineer; however, the Project Engineer should be capable of assembling individual task assignments into complete plan sets and reports. This position should be able to assign tasks to a new Design Engineer, and exhibit the ability to mentor, train, teach and check a Design Engineers work. The Project Engineer will generally work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and will generally be assigned projects instead of individual tasks.
Responsibilities may vary from time to time; however, they essentially include: • Performs all duties of Design Engineer • Prepares reports outlining opinions, and recommendations for the approval of a Project Manager concerning the production of the project • Prepares design plan sets for construction implementing design objectives set forth by the Project Manager • May act as technical advisor to design engineers assigned to the project, as determined by the Project Manager • May serve as Field Engineer during construction • May be assigned to manage small projects • Confers with management on all major project decisions such as client contact, design, construction cost, and schedule • Resolve day-to-day problems, mostly of a technical nature • May be asked to travel to out of town assignments
