    LOCATION: COOLIDGE, AZ TITLE: ARCHIVIST TECHNICIAN SCHEDULE (FT/PT): FT TRAVEL REQUIRED: NO CLEARANCE: NO Incorporated in 2011, North Wind Resource Consulting's core capabilities include environmental documentation and permitting; natural and cultural resource surveys; wildlife and botanical expertise; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) technical services; historic and prehistoric surveys; environmental consultation such as Section 106 for cultural resources, Section 404 for wetlands, and Section 7 for endangered species); and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping capabilities. North Wind Resource Consulting maintains offices across the country. JOB DESCRIPTION

    The objective task for the Archivist/Records Technician is to assist in digitizing numerous documents, maps, and objects of value and make this media fully accessible to the San Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP) and the information systems and storage methods it utilizes. SCIP has identified several documents it immediately would like to digitize and process, as well as items that might be determined to be valuable soon. The Archivist/Records Technician (A/R T) will assist the archivist to integrate records with existing systems, such as the Parcel Catalog and the BIA document management system, when appropriate. This will include data entry, cataloging, and other related tasks using Microsoft, Adobe, and other applications. The A/R T will create digital files outputs derived from digitization, both raw and mastered, in appropriate formats and file name schemas. A/R T will be trained on how to scan records appropriately and be responsible for understanding standard operating and quality control procedures, with appropriate guidance. The A/R T will handle sensitive physical materials with care and return to the original location or to where instructed by a responsible party. Records might be contain dust or other particulates. There are some physical demands; there is the possibility of lifting 25 pounds and involves standing part of the day for retrieval or to physically scan documents. Some of the SCIP materials to be processed includes: Normal format pages, max size 11x17 Unconventionally Bound or Special Care Pages Large Format / Maps / Blueprints (includes large photograph aerials) Photographs / Slides / Negatives VHS Tapes

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associates/Bachelor's degree, or significant coursework in appropriate field ie: archives, history, business administration.
    • Master of Library and Information Science, Archives, Museum desired but not required. 
    • College level coursework in STEM and environmental science related fields desired.
    • Applicable training and/or certificates related to environmental areas a plus. 
    • Demonstrative experience handing and organizing both physical and digital files.
    • Advance knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and other related document programs
    • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and function as part of a team.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to understand complex tasks and work professionally and flexibility under supervision.
    • Organize and file documents, physically and digitally, with appropriate training and supervision.
    • Follow standard operating procedures and requirements in performance of filing and organizing.
    • Perform data and information recall from existing systems.
    • Use computer technology including Microsoft (Word, Excel, Access) and Adobe (Acrobat) for documenting files and digital file management.
    • Appropriately labels and document contents of records in storage medium, such as labeling file tabs.
    • Use web-based systems for data entry of digital records for approval.
    • Assist with physical archival collections including understanding archival requirements for storage and handling such as preventing acidification.
    • Understand information security requirements for records and appropriate storage.
    • Digitize physical records as needed to appropriate digital standards using scanning equipment.
    • Experience using digitization equipment and best practices.
    • Assist with inventories of collections, including notetaking and other administrative tasks, as required.
    • Must be able to gain security access to San Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP) is BIA/Dol.
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
