    LOCATION: LOS ALAMOS, NM TITLE: GEOLOGIST / SAMPLING TECHNICIAN SCHEDULE (FT/PT): FT TRAVEL REQUIRED: 25% CLEARANCE: 

    North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance/military munitions response (MMRP), regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management. SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  The Sampling Technician conducts tests and field investigations to obtain data for use by environmental, engineering and scientific personnel in determining sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air, water, and soil, utilizing knowledge of agriculture, chemistry, meteorology, and engineering principles and applied technologies.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Collect data and samples in accordance with approved procedures. 
    • Collects soil, air, and/or water samples to determine chemical composition and nature of pollutants.
    • Prepares sample for testing, records data, and prepares summaries.
    • May operate fixed or mobile monitoring or data collection station.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

    • Associates in a related field preferred (environmental science, geology, civil engineering); OR equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.

    DESIRED SKILLS: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to pass U.S. Government employment background check and acquire U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential card.
    • The qualified candidate may be required to attain and maintain a DOE Q-clearance. 
    • The candidate must be able to be escorted by a DOE Q-cleared escort and work at a DOE facility. 
    • Able and willing to travel approximately 25%.
