    POSITION PURPOSE:

    Under general supervision, performs a variety of supporting technical and administrative duties relating to human resource functions and programs including in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, out processing, benefits administration, data management and reporting.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist with various human resources plans and procedures for all project personnel.
    • Completes all onboarding activities to include but not limited to, review of employment forms for accuracy, I-9 completion, E-Verify completion, state new hire reporting requirements.
    • Coordinates post offer-pre-employment drug screens and background screens.
    • Assist with project benefits administration, enrollment, termination and communicating benefit information to employees.
    • Explains general human resources policies, procedures, to new and existing employees.
    • Enters all personnel actions into the HRIS (new hires, terminations, compensation changes, transfers, employment classification changes).
    • Ensures human resource files and records are maintained in an accurate and timely manner while ensuring compliance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures.
    • Completes verification of employment request, security clearance requests and unemployment claims.
    • Responds to requests for data timely and accurately.
    • Keeps HR Manager appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    Education and Experience:

    • Associate of Science degree in a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an HR Specialist role.
    • Must be proficient with general computer use, e-mail, electronic calendars, and Microsoft Office suite applications.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Performs duties within scope of general policies, procedures, and objectives.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine and non-routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts with reasonable speed and accuracy.
    • Strong organizational and data management skills.
    • Hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

    QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must pass pre-employment background check.
    • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
    • Applicants are required to have REAL ID ACT compliant documentation at time of hire and nothing on record that would prohibit you from gaining access to Department of Energy sites.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    This position is primarily sedentary in nature but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally. This job requires being able to lift up to 35 lbs.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    Work will be performed in either an office environment or teleworking posture. Equipment will be provided if working in an office environment, employee will be expected to have adequate equipment (computer/laptop, computer monitor) and internet connectivity in the event that teleworking is required.
