    North Wind Services, is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customers mission.     Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

    Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly-motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.

    Operations & Business have an opening for a Temporary Environmental Analyst (EA) within the Environment, Safety & Health (ES&H) Directorate. You will provide independent energy analysis of LLNL's energy demands and uses by completing a predefined project from February to September 2023.

    This position is a temporary assignment, intended to fully complete the project within the allotted time, this position will report to the Water Resources and Environmental Planning Group Leader within the Environmental Functional Area (EFA).

    This position may require the employee to have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and/or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES -Prepare detailed quantitative analysis as part of an energy balance project, while collaborating with EFA's Subject Matter Experts and Mechanical Utility Division staff. -Lead, coordinate, and participate in completion of an energy balance analysis project to full successful completion in September 2023. -Interact with the primary technical contact for sustainability and the EFA Manager, reporting progress toward project milestones monthly and working and resolving hurdles in real time. -Analyze LLNL's sources and current uses of energy, as well as estimating future demands through 2030, evaluating demands in the system, and recommending prioritized next steps that include resourcing estimates based on analysis.

    -Conduct complex environmental analyses and audits of operations and facilities to identify potential environmental issues and recommend solutions.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES -Bachelor's degree in Physical, Chemical, Biological or Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. -Comprehensive knowledge and experience in sustainable operations, electricity systems, and metering, knowledge of sustainable systems and lifecycle analysis. -Significant experience conducting simple to complex audits and statistical analyses. -Significant experience analyzing, interpreting and assessing systems with complex environmental regulations and recommending and implementing solutions. -Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively present, explain and communicate complex technical information to all levels of personnel and management. -Advanced analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills to evaluate, interpret, negotiate, recommend and implement actions/solutions for complex problems. -Advanced, effective organizational skills with detail orientation necessary to handle multiple complex tasks and projects in a demanding environment with conflicting priorities, tight and changing deadlines, and frequent interruptions while providing high-level customer service, and good follow-through. -Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with a broad cross-section of people including effective interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact, discretion, and mature judgment.

    DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES -Experience with data management, Python and Jupiter notebook, MatLab, or similar. -Experience with building automation system software (e.g., WebCtrl, Skyspark) and analyzing system-level building data. -Advanced knowledge and significant experience using ArcGIS software.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS PRE-PLACEMENT MEDICAL EXAM: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required. ANTICIPATED CLEARANCE LEVEL: Q (position will be cleared to this level). In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
