    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • The Design Engineer is an entry-level engineering position. The Design Engineer works in a collaborative team environment under the supervision of more senior engineers. The Design Engineer performs routine engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles to complete project requirements. They are assigned specific tasks on a project, and are expected to use their education, intelligence and critical thinking to perform certain job responsibilities. The DE will learn the different aspects of a project and learn how to complete the different tasks required to assemble a set of plans.

    • • Assist in preparing project drawings, exhibits and design documents using AutoCAD and Civil3D including but not limited to: o design of civil aspects of projects (facility siting and layouts, grading, drainage systems, utilities, and site features) o Site development planning and design including stormwater management design and stormwater calculations and report writing for submissions o Sediment/Erosion control design and permitting • Assist in civil engineering evaluations, reports, analyses and designs for existing and new facilities and other related opportunities • Prepare various permit applications and assist with calculations and report writing. • Participate in site field investigations and client / user interviews to identify project needs, constraints and opportunities • Research and identify governing criteria, codes, guides and best practices • Work under the supervision of project managers, senior civil designers and other senior-level team members • May be asked to travel to out of town assignments

    QUALIFICATIONS

    •  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related undergraduate degree) • Adheres to LBYD Corporate Values • Preferred Non-Technical Skills: o Listening and following directions o Self-motivated and process driven o Critical thinking o Communicates well o Can Do Attitude o Ability to adapt to changes • Preferred Technical Skills: o Basic understanding of CADD o Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and methods o Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles • Physical Demands: o Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
