SHIPPING & RECEIVING CLERK JOB SUMMARY:
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for checking drivers in and out and making sure that the flow of the inventory coming and going from the warehouse is always accurate and accounted for. This person is the face to the customers and needs to thrive under pressure.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Signs drivers in and notifies warehouse for dock assignment
- Coordinates with warehouse and transportation to ensure timely and accurate preparation of shipping and receiving documents
- Receives, counts, and logs cash received by carriers if applicable
- Maintains WMS Scheduler, hard copy schedules, and updates visual aids for traffic flow
- Completes and verifies paperwork with drivers and releases drivers
- Completes receipts including pallets for loads.
- Verifies product and count to ensure accuracy of data entered in computer.
- Notifies applicable management personnel of pending no shows and/or unscheduled arrivals.
- Arranges outbound pick-up appointments for carriers and customer pickups.
- Calls carriers for late and/or no-show trucks and reschedule appointments as necessary.
- Greets and assists visitors/drivers in a timely and friendly manner.
- Follows HACCP and SQF requirements for food quality and safety.
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- 1+ Year Shipping & Receiving Experience
- 1+ Year Experience with MS Office Suite
- Strong Interpersonal & Problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Drive & motivation to exceed expectations
- Analytical skills, attention to detail and strong technical and people skills
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of various levels within and outside of the organization
- Meticulous mindset, proof of ability to deliver accurate and organized results under pressure
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES NECESSARY:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively and professionally before groups of customers, team members of organization, and drivers.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times.
