Human Resources Generalist
Northeast Alternatives, Inc. (NEA) is a vertically integrated, premium cannabis provider located in the City of Fall River, MA. Our 3–5-year vision is to expand within MA and in other states. Currently, we are building out a large cultivation facility in Lakeville, MA and Kalkaska, MI and are working on several opportunities for additional retail locations both in MA and MI.
Below are the detailed job responsibilities for the role in the current state; however, the role offers a tremendous opportunity for the right candidate to expand their role by partnering with key stakeholders in the organization and proactively drive the business through our people. Strong generalist experience is required, ideally with a focus on talent acquisition.

Job Responsibilities:
- Leverage Sling, our time and attendance software, to calculate and ensure the accuracy of our bi-weekly payroll and benefits
- Work in tandem with hiring managers through the full cycle recruiting, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and new hire onboarding/orientation
- Complete on-going HR activities including, all new-hire paperwork, CORI completion, employee licensure, DUA, FMLA and any workman’s comp claims, and ensure employee files are current as required for NEA to maintain regulatory compliance
- Create and implement programs to help ensure an exceptional employee experience as measured by our employee engagement survey
- Execute and track progress on NEA's Disproportionate Impact and Diversity and Inclusion plans with the Cannabis Control Commission
- Proven ability to learn quickly and take on all necessary HR-related projects
- Prepare and deliver all job offers, severance, and termination letters
- Develop, present, and implement all on-boarding and orientation materials for new employees
- Manage record-keeping and personnel files in a compliant and organized fashion
- Assist managers with employee relations and performance management, including employee assessment, counseling, and termination when necessary
- Other duties as assigned by CFO, likely to include project-based initiative critical to the organization’s growth

Ideal Experience:
- Human Resources: 1-3 years in a fast-paced, progressive environment
- Proven professional in recruitment, creating a candidate experience, providing a seamless onboarding process, knowledge of payroll; benefits; and DUA, FLMA, Labor Law, and Workman's Comp processes.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices and current regulations.
Education:
- Minimum (Associates Degree), Human Resources Certification preferred.
