    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    The Peer Support Engagement Specialist will provide outreach and engagement services to ensure the Population of Focus is aware of the availability of mental health services and can gain access to those services. 

     

    LOCATION: 3002 GRAND AVE, WAUKEGAN, IL

    HOURS: 37.5 HOURS A WEEK, MONDAY-FRIDAY (1:00PM-9:30PM)

    FLSA STATUS: HOURLY

     

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Complete one training, learn collaborative, or other technical assistance opportunity per grant reporting period.
    • Community engagement services including outreach to underserved areas in the Lake County community.
    • Advocacy: Serves as a role model of recovery and wellness to individuals receiving service while maintaining a therapeutic relationship which includes self-disclosure as needed.
    • Mentorship: Promotes social learning, teaches common life skills, and promotes individual choice.
    • Professional Responsibility: Promotes the 10 Guiding Principles of Recovery as detailed by SAMHSA and offers hope for recovery to individuals receiving services.
    • Recovery Support: Assists individuals with goal-setting, engages individuals as an active member of their recovery team, helps individuals identify strengths and resiliencies, assists individuals in identifying options for recovery, and works with individuals to develop problem solving skills.
    • Respond to referrals for supportive services from the Crisis Care Program.
    • Conduct community outreach and provide referrals to mental health services.
    • Participate in treatment team meetings in collaboration with program staff.
    • Facilitates with clients and collaborates with the treatment team to develop, review and update treatment goals.
    • Provide referrals both internally and externally.
    • Takes responsibility for training in and documenting clinical chart requirements to meet program and state standards in NextGen electronic medical record.
    • Provides atmosphere of customer service in assuring that clients are treated in a friendly and respectful manner.

     

    EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND CERTIFICATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or
    • Bachelor’s in any field and two (2) years’ experience, or
    • High School diploma or GED and five (5) years’ experience
    • Has the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification or be capable of attaining the CRSS certification within 18 months of being hired.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications

    Minimum of 3 years lead, supervisory, training or management experience • Exceptional attendance based upon past 12 months of employment (if applicable) • Flexibility with schedule to include coverage of last minutes changes: call-offs, tardiness/lateness and other demands that business may incur • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and juggle many tasks simultaneously. • A thorough understanding of meeting dynamics, including room set-ups, Audio Visual functions, food and beverage requirements, etc. • A good understanding of spatial relationships in the context of conference room capacities and functions. • Creativity, with an open mind to see things from a different angle, suggest alternative space solutions, etc. • Excellent telephone skills, combined with strong “listening” skills. • Familiarity with conference center property management/reservation systems. • Strong computer skills and knowledge of office technology/equipment. • Punctual, dependable and dedicated to achieving operational excellence, down to the smallest of details.

     SHIFT: MONDAY - FRIDAY 7:00 AM TO 3:30 PM
