    SUMMARY

    Northline Seafoods is a growing seafood processing company looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Vessel Administrator to execute our day-to-day administrative functions while aboard a barge in Bristol Bay, AK in the summer months, and serving in an administrative support role September-May in Bellingham, WA. This position will play a key role in keeping our vessel and production operations organized. As we grow, we're looking for an all-hands-on-deck perspective.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Oversee, train, and supervise the administrative staff aboard the barge during the processing season.
    • Work closely with the HR Coordinator to assign rooms, prepare crew lists and administer required trainings, paying particular attention to OSHA and Coast Guard regulations.
    • Work closely with the fish ticket clerk and deck crew to ensure the accurate accounting of all fish purchased as well as service items sold to tenders and fishing vessels.
    • Create and deliver to the management team, in conjunction with the Production Manager, the accurate accounting of all day-to-day fish processing activities.
    • Work with the Production Manager and Production Leads to maintain complete and accurate inventory of all finished production on the barge.
    • Operate and keep accurate records of employee purchases from the barge sea store.
    • Provide clerical support such as answering phones/radios, sorting and distributing mail/parts, preparing documents, filing documents, and greeting visitors.
    • Communicate and coordinate with the land-based operations the comings-and-goings of personnel & supplies to the barge.
    • Assist department heads with purchasing and coordinating delivery of emergency parts.
    • Ensures the main office stays stocked with necessary supplies.
    • Maintain & manage company business filings, with specific attention given to all safety equipment.
    • Pre-season duties will include working with our procurement team to ensure all season purchases are received and inventoried.
    • Bellingham winter operations will include supporting the vessel and production managers, as well as working closely with the sales and inventory team.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in the fishing/processing industry and working aboard a vessel is highly preferred.
    • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
    • Maintain a positive customer service-oriented attitude toward the crew and fleet.
    • Excellent computer skills including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Drive.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to complete duties with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work 12+ hour days, 7 days per week over a 70+ day season while in Bristol Bay, AK.
    • Ability to navigate a wet and cold barge with multiple levels of stairs within close quarters.
    • Ability to lift 30 pounds individually, and 60+ pounds with assistance.

    This job largely operates in an office environment, though navigation of wet, slippery, and close quarters aboard a barge setting will be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners and both physical and digital filing cabinets. Employee must be able to sit or stand at a computer for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively to barge management. Must be able to lift 30 pounds individually and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
