SUMMARY

Northline Seafoods is a growing seafood processing company looking for an experienced and motivated IT Technician. The ideal candidate will have experience in IT with an interest in developing their troubleshooting skill and learning about industrial instrumentation and automation. This position will be based in Bellingham Washington with 70+ days at sea in Bristol Bay, AK. As we grow, we're looking for an all-hands-on-deck perspective.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Define requirements for, procure, and install computers, routers, printers, and miscellaneous office electronics.
• Oversee IT systems and assets, assist with upgrades and fixes, and provide training and support as needed.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot RFID readers and associated equipment. Assist with the installation and implementation of Alaska Department of Fish and Game tracking and reporting hardware and software.
• Assist in and plan training, development and education for new software and hardware.
• Provide network and server administration and oversight, including monitoring security and backup protocols.
• Install and maintain cameras and CCTV equipment.
• Aid in the troubleshooting of processing instrumentation and controls.
• All other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in IT or a related field.
• Previous experience working aboard a processing ship/barge or in a factory environment is a definite plus.
• Previous experience troubleshooting IT issues.
• Clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work in tight, wet and cold conditions aboard a barge setting.
• Ability to solve problems and make clear rational decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work 12+ hour days 7 days per week over a 70+ day season.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds individually, or up to 100 pounds with assistance.

The IT Technician position operates primarily on a barge at sea in Bristol Bay, AK during the season with off season responsibilities in Bellingham, WA. This role routinely ensures the efficient installation and operation of all IT related systems aboard the barge. Employee must be able to stand, walk and generally navigate a barge setting in a wet and cold environment for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
