    This position is responsible for the overall operation and administration for the laboratories of Northside Companies and must comply with guideline requirements of the accrediting bodies of CMS/CLIA. This positon will work with laboratory staff to ensure that maintenance, quality control and daily review of patient results to include critical values and flags have been completed. This position will report any discrepancies to the Director of Clinical Services and Administrator if necessary. This position will work with the lead technologist to review, modify, if necessary, techniques/testing to produce more accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis. This position must ensure that testing and results are completed timely and efficiently, effectively monitoring and operating within established goals for Northside Services and federal and state regulations. This position must be willing to work as a team player and perform other duties as assigned. This position will have responsibilities of overseeing and supervising staff.

    Essential Functions:

    Maintain the CLIA licenses current, renewals and any change in directors, or locations, any addition of waived testing. Ensures that the laboratory meets criteria for CLIA.

    American Proficiency Testing (API) - supervise this throughout all clinics- across all waived testing.

    Maintain all lab policies and procedures for the waived testing

    Coordinate with outside lab services

    Maintains a daily/weekly/monthly review of maintenance and quality control results.

    Establishes and maintains a daily review of patient results for critical value reporting and flags.

    Works closely with lab staff, Director of Clinical Services and Administration to ensure accurate, efficiently and timely laboratory reporting of test results.

    Supervise lab staff

    Practices clinical laboratory science that includes chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, immunohematology, microbiology, and urinalysis as needed

    Ability to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers and medical staff

    Produces reports, letters, and other types of written correspondence designed to document activities and efforts, share and communicate information, and provide instruction and/or guidance on organization and departmental practices.

    Qualifications:

    Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or as described by CMS (CLIA) required

    5 years work experience training lab and medical staff on laboratory equipment and point of care equipment. Experience performing quality assurance and quality control procedures in a clinical laboratory (e.g. linearity’s, establishing control ranges, etc.). Experience working in the hematology, serology, and chemistry departments of a clinical laboratory. Work experience using and updating Laboratory Information Systems (e.g., building new laboratory tests, updating CPT codes, interfacing lab tests with equipment, etc.).

    Familiar with general laboratory equipment.

    Well versed in fundamentals of quality control in the medical laboratory.

    Familiar with financial expenditures and revenues in the clinical/medical laboratory.

    Familiar with the mechanism for efficient and economical maintenance of reagents and supplies.
