    We are currently seeking candidates for a Medical Receptionist position in our Pell City location.

    SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: The Medical Receptionist greets and registers patients, verifies medical and insurance information, collects co-payments and coordinates patient flow.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Greets patients and parents in polite, prompt, helpful manner and provides any necessary instructions and directions.

    Follows opening and closing procedures according to medical office guidelines.

    Reviews all patient information for accuracy and completion according to office policies prior to patient check-in and check-out.

    Answers incoming calls from patients and either processes the call or transfers calls to the appropriate medical staff.

    Scans charts, demographic forms, HIPAA Acknowledgement forms, etc. into Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

    Assist in completing insurance and other claim forms as directed.

    Changes and maintains confidential medical files and records using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system as necessary.

    Resolves issues relating to scheduling appointments.

    Exercises independent judgment and maintains working relationships with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and other staff.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    1 year of medical office experience, knowledge of an electronic medical record (EMR), computer proficiency in Word and Excel is strongly preferred.

    The medical receptionist must have data entry, spreadsheet, database and typing skills as well as working knowledge of medical terminology. Candidates must have strong oral and written communication skills. A certificate or diploma from an accredited education program such as Medical Office Administration is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceuticals is preferred. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    The specific work environment for this position is a multiple doctors’ facility working in an office setting. This position involves considerable sitting at a desk having sole responsibility for his or her working environment and it involves working independently within a larger office. Typically, all required responsibilities are completed at the desk or work station although walking to other areas within the office can be necessary. The environment may be stressful at times due to deadlines, job requirements and other factors.

    The position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and finger use. Pushing and pulling are occasionally required. Use of a computer, keyboard and telephone along with various office machines is an essential part of the job.
