Northwest Pump is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our team. This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency of our procurement operations. The ideal candidate will be effective in identifying and evaluating suppliers and managing the purchasing team to guarantee timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services while maintaining high standards of quality. What does a Purchasing Manager do?
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives, including cost reduction, supplier optimization, and risk management
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality goods and services
- Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals; provide ongoing guidance, training, and support
- Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to make informed decisions, optimize costs, and maximize value for the organization
- Collaborate with S&OP Manager on inventory levels, minimize excess inventory, and ensure that materials are available as needed while avoiding shortages
- Identify and pursue cost-saving opportunities
- Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times
- Work with Product Managers and/or S&OP Manager to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers as needed
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards
- Generate and present regular reports on procurement performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), to executive leadership team
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field
- Two or more years proven experience as a Purchasing Manager highly preferred
- Experience in the pump, industrial equipment, or distribution industry a plus
- In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and cost analysis
- Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance
- Proactive and analytical mindset with ability to interpret sales data and market trends
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a way that is thorough yet efficient
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to work autonomously, and as a team; self-motivated
- Proven history of being reliable and dependable
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of customers and coworkers; ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, telephone systems, and copiers with reasonable accommodation
- Ability to maintain an "Ownership Culture" and demonstrate understanding that all decisions have an impact on our business
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
