Northwestern Engineering (NWE), a nearly 100-year-old privately held real estate holding and development company based in Rapid City, South Dakota seeks a new Chief Financial Officer. NWE owns and manages real estate in five states including raw land, multi-family, industrial, office, retail, and hospitality properties. Wholly owned subsidiary operations include NWE Management Company, a full-service property management company based in Rapid City, SD, and Hills Products Group, a wood treatment, remanufacturing, bagging, production, and distribution operation in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Approximately 60 people work directly for NWE and an additional 150-200 under its subsidiaries.

Strong accounting, audit, tax, GAAP, finance, and insurance background.
Ability to lead, manage, administer and respond timely with our six-person accounting team, NWE’s leadership team, and the NWE board of directors.

Education & Experience
Seven or more years of experience in a similar CFO or Controller role.
Degree in accounting.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
Strong knowledge of real estate accounting including triple net , and common area maintenance reconciliations.
Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and directories/subdirectories.
Strong experience in multiple software platforms including real estate, hospitality, and manufacturing/inventory is preferred.
Responsibilities
Oversee full-time accounting staff.
Direct the preparation of all financial statements and related information.
Analyze financials status in relation to company status and/or projections.
Work with the leadership team to coordinate strategic planning and establish priorities.
Analyze economic data and trends to project the impact on the company.
Oversee and execute company debt agreements and work with lending institutions on new financing, refinancings, and compliance.
Oversee and execute company insurance programs and coverages.
Analyze, coordinate, and assist the execution of real estate tax processes including assessments, appeals, and payments.
Analyze future real estate and business purchase opportunities.
Manage, plan, and invest the company’s excess liquid funds.
Assist with syndicated investment projects and JV investors on new and ongoing projects.
