    Job Description

    The CLINICAL SUPPORT TECH reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

    The Clinical Support Tech is responsible for providing accurate, timely, and effective ancillary support in the Chemistry department of the clinical laboratory.

    • Phone coverage.
    • Maintaining supply inventories, placing inventory orders, logging in and rotating reagent inventory.
    • Locating and transporting specimens.
    • Computer activities.
    • Responding to customer requests.
    • Help prioritize, identify problems and assist in resolving problems.

    Non-Clinical Role-Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Works in partnership with all laboratory personnel to insure that tests are prioritized properly, and problems are identified.
    • Meets current documentation standards and policies.
    • Provides documentation that is timely, accurate, up to date, complete and legible.
    • Performs accurate computer and non-computer data entries and documentation.
    • Reviews QC/QA records to assure completeness and to identify areas of concern.
    • Reports finding to supervisor or manager.
    • Works in partnership with all laboratory personnel to effectively manage the flow of specimens including finding missing specimens, add-ons, archiving, and transporting from one area of the laboratory to another.
    • Inventory management, which includes but is not limited to, taking a physical inventory of laboratory reagent and supplies, unloading, unpacking, and putting away supplies and reagent once delivered.
    • Rotation of existing inventory and recording lot numbers of reagent according to department protocols.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Communication and Collaboration:

    • Answers department phone in a polite manner, communicating messages appropriately and clearly to all staff members.
    • Responds to customer calls in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Displays flexibility and dependability.
    • Demonstrates the values of team concept on a consistent basis.
    • Interacts with all team members in a professional manner.
    • Communicates appropriately and clearly with all.
    • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and other ancillary departments.

    Administration and Documentation:

    • Reviews maintenance records to assure completeness and to identify areas of concern.
    • Reports findings to supervisor or manager.
    • Performs accurate computer and non-computer data entries and documentation.

    Leadership:

    • Ensures that area of accountability is in complete compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards from agencies that review Central DuPage Hospital.
    • Initiates the meeting of responsibilities without prompting.
    • Demonstrates the value of team concept on a consistent basis.
    • Interacts with all team members in a professional manner.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • Upon hire, the Clinical Support Tech must provide hard copy of high school diploma or equivalency and/or transcripts.
    • Must provide proof of Education as stated in the CLIA guidelines.
