    Job Description

    SPRING 2020 CRT PROGRAM....Consideration only to those students attending schools in which NMH already has an established relationship with.  

    Provides patient care to assigned patients under the direction of the RN. Assists in the development and revision of the Patient Care Plan under the direction of the RN. Assists in and/or performs specific patient care procedures and treatments as outlined in this job description and listed here: Participates in admitting and discharging patients. Performs vital signs and monitors comfort level. Appropriately Utilizes Special Equipment; Orthopedic traction, Specialty chairs/commodes, Specialty beds/mattresses, Lift equipment. Collects Specimens; Clean voided urine, 24 hour urine, Closed urinary drainage system, Sputum, 72 hour fecal fat. Assists in the Performance of Postmortem Care. Practices Isolation and Infection Control Techniques. Applies Hot and Cold Applications; Thermal K-pads. Warm moist packs. Portable Sitz bath. Ice collar and bag. Hypo/hypothermia blanket. Performs Pre- and Post- Operative Care as delegated by the RN. Assists the nursing staff in the performance of non-invasive procedures and/or treatments. Passes medication under the supervision of the RN preceptor. Communicates all pertinent patient care information to appropriate staff members and participates in patient care conferences. Follows guidelines established in Hospital and Nursing policies and procedures. Demonstrates proper operation of equipment and can explain rationale for its use.  Recognizes malfunctioning of equipment and reports such to appropriate personnel. Cooperates with all departments to facilitate optimum patient care and positive public relations. Documents on flow sheets and in the electronic medical record, based upon the discretion of the manager and the RN.  All documentation is countersigned by an RN. Demonstrates responsibility for enhancement of own knowledge by attending staff meetings, unit inservices and educational programs as well as pursuing own educational goals. Participates in unit journal club, performance improvement projects and attends educational opportunities provided for all participants in the SNE program. Collaborates with RN preceptor and clinical faculty member to discuss learning objectives and their evaluation and to design experiences that facilitate meeting of these objectives. EOE/AA.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Currently enrolled in an accredited professional nursing program with a current NMH affiliation agreement. 
    • Current CPR card.
    • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation recognition (healthcare provider level).
