    Job Description

    The UNDERGRADUATE INTERN reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Performs biomedical &/or social-behavioral research by administering tests &/or questionnaires following protocols; collecting, compiling, tabulating &/or processing responses; gathering information; &/or assisting in the preparation of material for inclusion in reports.  Completes data entry for specimen collection and study visits.  Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). 

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Recruits study participants; reviews & obtains informed consent; schedules study visits with participants; conducts interviews; may score test results; collects survey data; & may review medical records.  May consult with nurses & physicians to determine pretreatment & eligibility requirements of protocol from completion to registration of participants.  Facilitates communication with key personnel & participants to maintain project study flow.
    • Conducts study visits following established protocols.  Maintains detailed records on study visits and recruitment efforts.
    • Prepares materials for study visits as directed, including copying and collating forms and kits for each visit.
    • Assists with specimen processing and shipment.
    • Maintains detailed records of results which may include collecting, extracting & entering data; &/or preparing basic charts & graphs.  May perform scientific literature searches in support of research; &/or complete portions of grant applications &/or documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols.
    • Completes data entry and specimen collection data into central website.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program.

    PREFERRED:

    • Completion of at least the sophomore year of study.
